Flamengo confirmed this Saturday afternoon (24) that player Marko Filipovity is no longer part of the red-black basketball team's squad. Mengão reported that the decision was made by the Hungarian center forward himself, but he did not confirm the reason.

“Me and My family arrived at Flamengo very excited in September, with big plans. We received a lot from Rio and Flamengo. Our daughter was born here, which is a blessing. But our routine took a toll, my wife and I were not prepared for everyday life in this new reality and we were suffering. I wish all the best to the team and the fans, who treated us so well. I believe that Flamengo will still win a lot this year”, concluded the Hungarian.

Marko Filipovity arrived at Flamengo in 2023, coming from BV Chemnitz 99, in Germany. The 27-year-old pivot played in 32 games and won Super 8 and Campeonato Carioca titles. In the current edition of Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), the player has an average of 11 points and four rebounds.
As for Flamengo's situation, the team remains unbeatable in the NBB. With 48 points and an 85% success rate, Mengão leads the competition. In 26 matches played, the team won 22 and lost four, surpassing Minas in the standings.

The Americans opened up a 20-point lead, putting Flamengo in a difficult position. The comeback, however, came in the final quarter: Alexey and Kayo Gonçalves led a spectacular comeback , putting Flamengo ahead in the final minutes.

Despite their efforts, NBA G-League United regained the lead in the final seconds and won 93-91 . Mengão even tied the game before their opponents' final shot, but were unable to force overtime.

We were slow to respond and only changed our approach when the lead was already significant . That was a big loss. But it was still a great game, decided by the details. We knew it would be tough. Flamengo debuted with a 93-91 defeat at the Basketball World Cup against NBA G-League United on Thursday morning (18) in a game of strong emotions. Current two-time champion of the competition, with titles in 2014 and 2022, Sérgio "Oveja" Hernández's team dreams of a third title. And, despite the defeat, they showed the power to react.

Flamengo basketball begins this Thursday (September 18), in Singapore, its journey in the FIBA Intercontinental Club Cup, considered the Basketball World Cup.
Flamengo faces NBA G League United (USA) at 6 a.m. (Brasília time) , with exclusive coverage on FlamengoTV throughout Brazil. On September 19, also at 6 a.m., the opponent will be the Illawarra Hawks of Australia. The decisive matches will take place over the weekend.
Before the tournament began, Sérgio Hernández's team, Oveja, trained in Spain. The period included friendlies against local opponents and helped them adapt to the time difference . The coach highlighted the group's confidence and the club's facilities:
