Maracanã hosted its last event of 2024 last Saturday (28), < a href="https://gazetadourubu.com/noticia/zico-faz-homenagens-a-adilio-no-maracana-antes-de-jogo-das-estars" target="_blank">with the traditional Star Game organized by Zico. Now, the stadium will undergo renovations to the pitch to welcome Flamengo and Fluminense in better conditions throughout 2025.
According to the CEO of Maracanã, Severiano Braga, the current lawn will be replaced by the 'Bermuda Celebration' type ', more resistant and suitable for the intense calendar. However, the new field is expected to be fully implemented throughout the season. The ‘Sacred Temple’ is scheduled to reopen on January 25th.
Flamengo and Fluminense without fixed home
With the closure of Maracanã, Flamengo and Fluminense, who won the bid to manage the stadium for the next 20 years, will need to look for alternatives for their games at the beginning of 2025. Mengão, in particular, plans to take some matches to the Northeast of Brazil.
Flamengo and Fluminense have not yet confirmed their first games at Maracanã for 2025.
