This last Friday (20), the Rio Court suspended the process contesting the expropriation and auction of the Gasometer land. The site, purchased by Flamengo, is part of the project for the construction of Mais Querido's own stadium.

According to information from the "Tempo Real" portal, the suspension of the dispute was 90 days, that is, for three months. The Court took a stance against the process after a request from Mais Querido, Rio City Hall, the Attorney General's Office (AGU) and Caixa Econômica Federal.

This is because the objective is to mediate the solution of the conflict between Caixa Econômica Federal and Mais Querido. This is because Flamengo paid around R$ 146 million to buy the land from Gasologista at an auction held by Rio City Hall. However, Caixa understands that the site is valued at R$ 240 million.

< b>PRESIDENT OF FLAMENGO MET WITH THE GENERAL ATTORNEY

The mediation process is carried out by the Mediation and Conciliation Chamber of the Federal Public Administration (CCAF) of the AGU. In recent days, Rubro-Negro's representative, Rodolfo Landim, met with the Federal Attorney General's Office to discuss the matter.

FLAMENGO DISCARDS CONCERNS

According to Flamengo himself, the obstacle will be resolved soon. In other words, the construction of the Mais Querido stadium remains in planning. In Landim's words, the expectation is that Rubro-Negro's new home will be ready in 2029.

Cia do Terno is a giant, genuinely Brazilian, with hundreds of stores and recognized for its quality. I hope we can be together for a long time and take the brand to an even larger audience”, said coach Bernardinho.

Flamengo's executive director of Olympic Sports, Marcelo Vido, believes that the arrival of a new The sponsor will make the team even more competitive.

“The arrival of Cia do Terno further strengthens the team, encouraging the constant search for titles and supporting the volleyball program with the integration of the red and black base. This partnership contributes to the construction of an increasingly competitive and sustainable team in the long term”, said Vido.

“For us it is an honor to become sponsors of Sesc RJ Flamengo, the club with the biggest fans in Brazil , of national and international prominence and with a technical committee already famous and known for its competence, led by Bernardinho. Sesc RJ Flamengo continues with master sponsorship from Sesc, which has “signed” the project since 2016, and Everest, which renewed the agreement that began in 2023. The squad for the season was presented at the beginning of June and the players who are not playing national team services are already undergoing training with the technical committee. The first commitment, however, will be the Campeonato Carioca, probably only in October.

Controversies always seem to surround Flamengo, and yet another unexpected piece of news involving the club came to light this Wednesday (18), this time related to women's football. Rubro-Negro was condemned by the courts in a case brought by six former players, with a decision that surprised everyone.

The action, which had been ongoing since 2021, resulted in a conviction worth R$3.2 million. According to information from Uol, the names of the players were not revealed, but they were released during the reformulation of the sport in 2022 and were seeking recognition of a professional bond with Flamengo.

Flamengo, which maintains a partnership with the Brazilian Navy did not pay the athletes directly, as they were third sergeants. They played for the club between 2015 and 2021, a period in which they won the Brazilian Women's Championship. However, the players argued that the practice adopted by the club and the Navy was irregular, according to the partnership contract.

“An item in the cooperation term made it clear that the Navy would not provide financial resources, nor would it carry out the direct transfer of facilities. Flamengo was intentionally omitted to pay the athletes”, guarantees lawyer Rafael Cunha.

Possibility of appeal

Despite the initial decision, Flamengo can still appeal. The Regional Labor Court of Rio de Janeiro unanimously understood that Flamengo benefited from the situation and determined that the club must record the athletes' contributions in their Work Cards, in addition to paying the due salaries and other labor obligations.

In addition to these six players, eight others also filed lawsuits against Flamengo for the same reason, but their trials have not yet taken place. In response to Uol, the club commented on the case:

“Of the nine legal actions involving former Navy athletes and coaches, eight had court decisions removing the employment relationship with the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, considering that these are exclusively third-level Navy sergeants”, he says.

One of Flamengo's presidential candidates, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, better known as BAP, announced that the club's possible new stadium should cost approximately R$2.5 billion. The project, which aims to build an arena in the Gasometer region, in the center of Rio de Janeiro, foresees a capacity for 70 thousand fans. The statement was given in an exclusive interview with Lance!, as part of a series with all the candidates for the red-black election, scheduled for December this year.

< b>COST AND LEGAL CHALLENGES

BAP, when estimating the value of R$ 2.5 billion for the construction, highlighted that the club will face legal challenges regarding the acquisition of the land, which belonged to a fund administered by Caixa Econômica Federal and was expropriated by Rio City Hall. He believes that there will be a legal imbroglio over the area, but he was confident in overcoming these obstacles.

“I estimate that a stadium of 70 thousand seats will cost around R$2.5 billion. I am absolutely sure that there will be a legal battle, because, in Brazil, this ends up being politically influenced as well. We hope that, with the team we have, we can overcome these challenges and find a solution that benefits all parties involved — Caixa, the Caixa fund, the City Hall, the State government, the fans and Flamengo”, stated the candidate .

OPPOSITION TO THE PURCHASE OF THE PORTUGUESE CLUB

Another point addressed by Luiz Eduardo Baptista was his opposition to the purchase of Leixões, a second division club in Portugal. The CRF is in negotiations to acquire the Portuguese team with the aim of strengthening the club's internationalization, but BAP was vehemently against the idea.

“Flamengo gains absolutely nothing from this. It's a waste of time and energy, a terrible idea for the moment the club is going through. If I am elected, at whatever stage this project is at, it will be immediately cancelled”, he declared.

The election to choose the club's new president will take place in December and will define who will lead Flamengo for the next three years. BAP is one of the strong names in the electoral race and seeks to implement a modernization project, focusing on the club's infrastructure and finances.
