Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista has once again commented on the project to build its own stadium . During the interview, the director stated that making this dream come true is important, but he stressed that there is no rush, since the club has secured the management of Maracanã for the next 19 years. The president also spoke about Mengão's financial situation .

Bap on stadium: "If this project compromises Flamengo's sporting performance, we won't do it"

“The stadium is important, it’s a dream, but we waited years for the training center — which took more than 20 years to build. Now we’ve had the Maracanã for 19 years. In other words, we have time to do this calmly . We still need to achieve a lot. When there are more resources and clarity about the project, we will make the decision,” said the president.

"WE WILL NOT COMPROMISE THE CLUB'S PERFORMANCE"

Baptista emphasized that the project's viability depends on more in-depth studies. According to him, four companies are evaluating the preliminary surveys and the results indicate that the project will require more time and money than initially estimated: “The studies show that it is not possible to do it on time or for the amount previously mentioned. This is the reality. If this project compromises Flamengo's sporting performance, we will not do it ,” said Bap.

CORINTHIANS SERVE AS A WARNING

As an example, the president cited Corinthians , which after winning important titles such as the Libertadores and the 2012 World Cup, inaugurated its stadium. However, according to him, the new arena did not translate into more achievements .

“Let’s take the case of Corinthians. In 2012, they won the Libertadores and the World Cup. My Corinthians friends said: ‘In two years we’ll have a stadium, and then you’ll see’. And what happened since then? Learning from your own experience is intelligence. Learning from the experience of others is wisdom ”, he concluded.

FLAMENGO ON THE FIELD

While the debate over the stadium continues, Flamengo is preparing for the third round of the Club World Cup. The team faces Los Angeles FC (USA) this Tuesday (24), at 10 pm (Brasília time), at Camping World Stadium, in Orlando. The match will be broadcast by Rede Globo (open TV) and CazéTV (YouTube/streaming).

Flamengo's board has been the target of recent approaches involving its key defenders. Léo Pereira, a regular starter, has received inquiries from three European football teams : Valencia, Sevilla, and Porto, seeking information on values and conditions for a potential deal.

Despite the interest, the club's executives remain firm: there are no plans to release the player this summer . The club, however, admits to keeping communication channels open for possible future talks.

HIGH TERMINATION FINE

For Léo Pereira to leave the club before his contract expires, he will have to pay the full release clause, valued at €60 million (approximately R$380 million at the current exchange rate). This amount has served as a buffer against more aggressive moves in the European market.

The situation is similar for Léo Ortiz, another defensive pillar of the squad. The player is also being monitored by European clubs, and his situation is attracting attention behind the scenes . The information was initially released by the website 'GE'.

LÉO ORTIZ ATTRACTS INTEREST FROM GIANTS

Among those interested in the defender are Napoli, Juventus, and Roma, who have already held informal inquiries. So far, the only concrete offer has come from RB Leipzig, but it hasn't progressed . With the European window closing on September 2nd, further moves are expected, although Flamengo 's position is clear: to keep its starters at least until the end of this season.
