The debut of Filipe Luís as coach of Flamengo last Wednesday (2) left a lot of people excited. From journalists and commentators to, of course, the Nation, the change in the style of play was notable compared to what was being presented with Tite. Based on this, Casagrande highlighted the aspects that differentiate Mengão under the command of Filipe Luís in relation to Adenor's previous work.
Casagrande highlighted that one of the main transformations at Flamengo is in the environment. According to him, the team has a new look with Filipe Luís at the helm. Furthermore, the commentator highlighted that the new coach's light and fluid playing style may have been inspired by lessons learned from Jorge Jesus.
“The atmosphere with Tite was heavy, turbulent, and Filipe's arrival completely changed the atmosphere of Gávea. Tite never fit into Flamengo's football school, which is to have light, technical, movement football and always trying to involve the opponent. Filipe has this in his DNA, which was strengthened when he was part of Jorge Jesus' incredible team”, analyzed Casagrande.
Another point mentioned by Casagrande was the pressure exerted by the players and the intensity on the field, something that Filipe Luís stated that it is an important characteristic in his teams, as highlighted in a recent interview.
“Another abysmal change in behavior on the field was the aggressiveness in marking, and pressure when leaving Corinthians ball. While Tite shrinks the team, Filipe advances, forcing the ball out of the opponent's defense. They managed to steal the ball several times and, with that, put pressure on Corinthians, who took the first shot in the 40th minute of the first half”, said the commentator.
Casagrande sees Filipe Luís as the "future" of Brazilian football
Part of a new generation of technicians in Brazil, Filipe Luís brings a modern philosophy, developed during the years he worked in Europe and improved throughout his career in Brazil. With a clear methodology, Casagrande sees the Flamengo coach as hope for the future of Brazilian football.
“Filipe Luís could be the most important Brazilian coach of the new generation, the one most modernized and updated , because I was already interested, even as a player, always being the coach's representative on the field. I didn’t say captain, but rather the guy who can read the game easily from the field, and all the coaches wanted his opinion”, he emphasized.
Despite high expectations, Casagrande asked caution, but reaffirmed the great potential he sees in Filipe Luís .
“We need to be calm, because it was just his debut, and we are worried and desperate for Brazilian football to return. be charming, light, creative, aggressive, with that hint of Brazilian football magic. When we see someone, like Filipe, turn on the light at the end of the tunnel, it gives us that great feeling of watching a beautiful football match”, added Casagrande.

This Thursday (18), Flamengo begins the dispute of the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores against Estudiantes, at Maracanã. On the eve of the confrontation, the president and idol of the Argentine club, Juan Sebastián Verón, spoke about the expectations for the duel against Rubro-Negro.
During an institutional event in La Plata, Verón highlighted the financial difference between the teams , with Mengão being the team with the highest market value among the tournament participants, but recalled Estudiantes ' tradition of overcoming opponents considered favorites.
Estudiantes' Verón on Flamengo in the Libertadores: "Yes, the challenge is difficult"
"Obviously, we know the power of our opponent, but we also know that we've been through similar situations against important teams, and that the club, given its history, has risen to the occasion. We've always kept this in mind: yes, the challenge is difficult, but we can excel and represent the club well , regardless of the result. We've experienced this before, and we continue to do so," the director stated.
In the early 1990s, Verón began his career at Estudiantes and played in the 2-0 victory over Flamengo in the 1994 Supercopa Libertadores . In addition to his former club, the former midfielder also shone for major teams such as Boca Juniors, Lazio, Manchester United and Inter Milan . In 2007, he returned to Estudiantes and was a key player in their 2009 Copa Libertadores victory.
Verón retired in 2014, but returned to the field three years later as a player-president . His last official match came in 2017, against Botafogo, also in the Copa Libertadores, during the group stage.
