Flamengo is close to qualifying for the semi-finals of the Copa Rio U-17. After all, the team led by Filipe Luís beat Madureira, away from home, in Conselheiro Galvão, 3-0. The goals in this Saturday's match (11) were scored by Joshua, the team's number 10, who has a termination fine of 50 million euros (R$ 267 million).
The red-and-black jewel opened the scoring in the 30th minute of the first half. After receiving the ball on the right, Douglas Telles crossed low and Joshua, free, appeared at the second post to push it into the net. Soon after, at 42’, a penalty for Flamengo. Then, the top scorer of the morning took the ball and hit it with class, with no chance for the opposing goalkeeper.
After the break, in the sixth minute, Flamengo made a good move on the left, the ball fell to Joshua, at the entrance to the area. The 16-year-old boy was very calm, 'combed' the ball, carried it to the penalty spot and only moved the goalkeeper before going out for the hug. After the show, number 10 was replaced by coach Filipe Luís, at 21'.
This was not the first hat-trick in the Copa Rio U-17. In the 6-0 defeat of Resende, on April 13, Joshua scored three goals. In fact, with this Saturday's goals (11), the boy equaled strike partner Douglas Telles' mark in the competition's artillery, with seven.
Flamengo started the round in fourth place, with 18 points. In this way, Filipe Luís' team rose to 21. Fifth is Fluminense, who also started the day with 18. That is, if the rival loses this Saturday (11), against Resende, at 1 pm (Brasília time ), Mengão is close to qualifying for the semi-finals.
There is only one round left until the end of the first phase. Flamengo ends the journey next Saturday, May 18, against Olaria, in Gávea. The ball starts at 11am (Brasília time), at Estádio da Gávea, home of Rubro-Negro. During the Rio U-17 Cup, Mengão recorded seven wins and three draws.

Flamengo has reaped the rewards of more efficient management at Maracanã . In the victory over São Paulo last Saturday (12), the club received 65% of the match's net revenue — the highest percentage of the season so far. According to journalist Rodrigo Mattos, from UOL, the Rubro-Negro collected R$3.1 million net of a total of R$4.7 million . With the inclusion of revenue from bars and food at the stadium, the amount rises to R$3.4 million.
This jump in profits has an explanation: a cost-cutting plan for Maracanã operations, implemented by Bap's (Luiz Eduardo Baptista) administration. Since the beginning of 2025, the club has been renegotiating service contracts and reviewing operating expenses at the stadium.
To give you an idea, operating expenses fell from R$965,000 to R$680,000, comparing the matches against Internacional (first round) and São Paulo . Furthermore, against Inter, the club received only 47% of net revenue. In 2024, that figure was even lower: 31%, considering the average of all matches at the stadium.
The new policy includes strategic closures of areas during low-attendance matches and the implementation of a new parking lot with 400 spaces, which is already contributing to increased game revenue. Other planned measures include replacing the stadium's lighting and migrating to the Free Energy Market , which should generate savings, although with a smaller impact than contract renegotiations.
With these changes, Flamengo projects a significant jump in net ticket revenue: from R$21 million in 2024 to R$59 million in 2025, an estimated increase of R$38 million . It's worth noting that the 65% net ticket revenue rate was only recorded recently, in mid-2025, and does not represent the average for the entire season. Even so, the club believes it can further increase its revenue from Maracanã in the coming years, strengthening its coffers and opening up space for new investments.
With historical elements, an elegant palette and gold details, the uniform has everything to become one of the most iconic of the Adidas era.

A new image went viral among Flamengo fans this week: it's the possible third jersey for the 2025/26 season. The model hasn't yet been officially released by the club, but it's already gaining attention for its bold design, gold details, and recap of historical elements.
The leak was made by the Opaleak portal, a global reference when it comes to previewing club uniform releases. According to the publication, Adidas adopted an approach that blends classic with modern, opting for sober tones and gold inserts.
The piece immediately catches the eye with a detail that stirs the fans' emotional memories: the rowing shield, traditionally used by Flamengo in iconic moments, returns to appear on the chest of the new Flamengo shirt.
Furthermore, the Adidas symbol on the uniform is not the current one — but rather the trefoil, the brand's vintage logo, recently used in commemorative pieces that hark back to the 80s and 90s.
The uniform's base tone is cream, also known as off-white, a color that has been gaining traction in the alternate kits of several clubs. The shoulders feature the traditional red and black stripes—a feature that reinforces the Manto Sagrado's visual identity.
