For many, Giorgian De Arrascaeta is one of the greatest foreigners to ever wear the Flamengo shirt. The numbers go further and place the Uruguayan on a shelf of the greatest foreigners who have played in Brazilian football. The midfielder has the Copa do Brasil as one of the main competitions of his career and, not surprisingly, he could become one of the greatest champions.
Absent in the first match, Arrascaeta is Flamengo's hope to deconstruct the advantage 1-0 for São Paulo. If that happens, the Uruguayan will win his fourth Brazilian Cup title and join Zinho and Roger Machado as the biggest winners of the competition.
"It's something I always say, it's very gratifying for us players reaching these levels, but that's more for the press. The statistics are for you. We have to try to do our best. When you're in a team like Flamengo, we have to try to win the finals", the number 14 told the portal " GE".
Zinho, in fact, participated in Flamengo's first title in the competition, in 1990. He then won with Palmeiras in 1998, Grêmio in 2001, and Cruzeiro in 2003. Roger Machado was three-time champion with Grêmio (1994, 1997 and 2001) and won once with Fluminense in 2007.
The mystique with the Uruguayan goes beyond the hope of reversing the score. Arrascaeta has never lost a Copa do Brasil final. He ended up champion of all the games he participated in: 2017 and 2018 with Cruzeiro and 2022 with Flamengo. The midfielder never lost a game in the competition's decisions. He played five games, with four draws and one victory.
The outstanding foreigner
Since Arrascaeta arrived in Brazil, in 2015, when he began his career at Cruzeiro , he became one of the athletes with the most games in the Copa do Brasil. In total, 49 matches - second only to midfielder Alisson, currently at São Paulo, who participated in 51 games.
Interestingly, Alisson was Arrascaeta's teammate at Cruzeiro and they were even champions together in 2017. Now, the Uruguayan will meet his friend again as an opponent in this Sunday's decision, in Morumbi, and, even with the friendship, the competition is treated as 'life or death'.
- He is a guy who is currently playing in a position (steering wheel) different in São Paulo, but it's going very well. I had great moments with him at Cruzeiro, we were champions. He is a guy who dedicates himself a lot and is very humble. I have enormous affection for him, but in the final it's life or death (laughs).
Goalkeepers Cássio, currently at Corinthians, and Fábio, currently at Fluminense, both 48, complete the top-3 players with the most matches in the Copa do Brasil since 2015.
The number of 49 games was achieved in the match against Grêmio that qualified Flamengo for the final of the Copa do Brasil, complete with a penalty goal. An injury to the biceps femoris of his left thigh took Arrascaeta out of four matches, including the first game against São Paulo at Maracanã.
The game against Grêmio wasn't important just because of the record. Arrascaeta scored the only goal of the match, and reached his 12th goal in the history of the competition: six for Flamengo and six for Cruzeiro. The number makes the Uruguayan one of the biggest foreign scorers in the competition: Herrera has 14 and Petkovic has 15.

O Flamengo segue ativo no mercado em busca de um reforço de peso para o ataque em 2026. A prioridade da diretoria continua sendo Kaio Jorge, do Cruzeiro, mas as dificuldades na negociação fizeram o clube trabalhar com alternativas.
Segundo o jornalista Ekrem Konur, o plano B rubro-negro é Kauã Elias, atacante do Shakhtar. O jovem brasileiro passou a ser monitorado como opção concreta caso o negócio com o clube italiano não avance.
Kauã Elias foi negociado pelo Fluminense no início do ano por 17 milhões de euros fixos, além de bônus, totalizando cerca de 19 milhões de euros. A venda foi uma das maiores da história recente do clube carioca.
Na Ucrânia, o atacante rapidamente justificou o investimento. Em 26 jogos pelo Shakhtar, marcou 11 gols e deu três assistências, números que chamaram a atenção do Flamengo para uma possível repatriação.
Antes da ida à Europa, Kauã foi peça importante na recuperação do Fluminense no Brasileirão, ajudando o clube a evitar o rebaixamento. A boa fase atual e o histórico recente o colocam como alvo forte do Rubro-Negro.

Enquanto o Cruzeiro avalia a possível venda de Kaio Jorge ao Flamengo, outro nome do ataque pode deixar a Toca da Raposa. Gabriel Barbosa, o Gabigol, entrou no radar do mercado internacional, com sondagens de clubes da MLS e do Oriente Médio nesta janela.

O volante Allan está perto de deixar o Flamengo. Alvo do São Paulo para a próxima temporada, o jogador de 27 anos aprovou o projeto esportivo apresentado pelo clube paulista. A negociação, porém, ganhou novos contornos nos bastidores da Gávea.
Ciente do interesse tricolor, o Flamengo pretende usar Allan como peça estratégica. A ideia da diretoria é transformar a saída do volante em oportunidade para tentar a contratação de Marcos Antônio, desejo antigo do clube.
Segundo o jornalista Alexsander Vieira, o Rubro-Negro planeja oferecer Allan em definitivo, além de uma compensação financeira, para convencer o São Paulo a liberar Marcos Antônio. O objetivo é uma troca que beneficie tecnicamente os dois elencos.
O negócio, no entanto, é complexo. Marcos Antônio pertence à Lazio e está emprestado ao São Paulo, que tem prioridade de compra fixada em 4 milhões de euros. Qualquer acordo exigiria um ajuste financeiro para viabilizar a liberação do atleta.
O nome de Marcos Antônio é bem avaliado por José Boto e Filipe Luís. Com passagem por clubes da Europa e aos 25 anos, o meia é visto como peça importante para 2026, mas o São Paulo deve endurecer as negociações por considerá-lo um ativo valioso.
