Zenit (RUS) rejected Flamengo's proposal for striker Claudinho. The Russian team made a counter-proposal with almost twice the value offered by Fla. The representatives of the red-black still have hope of closing the signing, even though the negotiations are complicated and the transfer window is about to close.
This Monday (24) the drama between Zenit and Flamengo intensified. Claudinho is proving more difficult to sign than expected and his team did not accept Mengão's offer to buy him for 15 million euros (approximately 78 million reais at current prices). The Russians are asking for 10 million euros more than what was proposed - 25 million euros -, that is, more than 130 million reais at the current price.
The Brazilian player has already expressed his willingness to return to national football and has even accepted the salary that Flamengo is willing to pay him if he plays for the team. Both parties had already agreed on the length of the contract, which will end in December 2027. The club's reaction was casual and natural. The 'no' received seems to be part of the negotiation plan. As Zenit's first proposal for the striker would have been 15 million euros, which was what Flamengo offered, it seems that they are more trying to take advantage of the interest of the team from Rio.
While this plot stretches, Flamengo has to act in a hurry, even with hope still alive. The transfer window will close in the next few weeks, at the beginning of the next month (August) and, consequently, the time to make any purchases will also end.

Flamengo is close to confirming another international signing. Striker Michael Johnston, 26, should be officially announced as the club's new player in the coming days. The Irish athlete will arrive in Rio de Janeiro next Tuesday (8), coming from London, to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract with the Rio de Janeiro club. The information was released by journalist Cahê Mota, from the ge portal.
Having played for clubs in Scotland, Portugal and England, Johnston came through Celtic's youth ranks and made his professional debut in 2017. His peak for the Scottish club came in 2019, when he scored in the UEFA Europa League against Stade Rennais. Despite his potential, a series of injuries and intense competition within the squad have limited his prospects at Celtic.
In 2022, he was loaned to Vitória de Guimarães, from Portugal, and, at the beginning of 2024, he went to West Bromwich , from the English second division. His time in the Championship was positive, registering three goals and five assists, which aroused the interest of Mais Querido. The value of the negotiation is around R$ 37 million.

The club is initially offering priority to members of the Nação Maraca 1 and Nação Sem Fronteiras plans.
