Even with the dismissal of Dorival Júnior , the CBF chose to keep Rodrigo Caetano (national teams director), Cícero Souza (national teams manager) and Juan (technical manager), formerly of Flamengo . In an interview at the entity's headquarters, Caetano explained the decision of president Ednaldo Rodrigues .
"The fact that some more CBF employees are staying is precisely because the president's idea is that we always have a backup of what has been developed so far. Historically, many times, everything has started over with a change. In this case, he is looking to do things differently . That is why he opted for us to stay, as well as Cícero and Juan," declared the national team director.
Juan remains at CBF after stint at Flamengo
Before taking on the role of technical manager for the Brazilian national team, Juan worked at Flamengo in the same position. The former defender began his career as a manager in 2019 , shortly after retiring from the field.
Rodrigo Caetano regrets Dorival Junior's departure
Despite continuing in the position, Rodrigo Caetano did not hide his sadness at Dorival Júnior's departure.
"Every interruption is painful. Especially for a guy like Dorival Júnior , who besides being a great coach, is also a great friend . We had a meeting with the president and this type of situation was defined today only , as well as the definition of my case. It's a sad day for me personally, but, according to the mission I have, I can only look forward to this future choice of a new commander," he said.
Discreet passage through Flamengo
Like Dorival and Juan, Rodrigo Caetano also worked at Flamengo, but with less success . As the club's executive director in 2017, his only achievement was the Campeonato Carioca.

Flamengo will have almost full strength in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores , this Wednesday (20), against Internacional, at the Beira-Rio Stadium. The only confirmed absence is midfielder Erick Pulgar, who remains in the medical department and is not fit to play.
Pulgar had been an important player in Mais Querido 's midfield, but he won't be available. Other than that, all the other players are available to the coaching staff, which guarantees good lineup options and changes throughout the match.
The expectation is that Filipe Luís will send the following formation onto the field: Agustín Rossi; Varela, Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro; Allan, Jorginho and Arrascaeta; Gonzalo Plata, Samuel Lino and Bruno Henrique (Pedro).
Coach Roher Machado's international squad should have: Rochet; Aguirre, Vitão, Juninho and Bernabei; Thiago Maia, Alan Rodríguez, Alan Patrick, Bruno Tabata (Carbonero) and Wesley; Ricardo Mathias.
CONMEBOL announced that Uruguayan referee Esteban Ostojich will officiate. He is one of the most experienced referees in the organization, having already been involved in decisive Libertadores matches , and will officiate another important duel in South American football.

This Wednesday (20), Flamengo will face Internacional again, this time in the second leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores, at the Beira-Rio Stadium. The Mais Querido arrives at the clash in high spirits, after winning the first game 1-0, at Maracanã, and repeating the positive result last Sunday (17), when they defeated the Gauchos 3-1 in the Brazilian Championship.
The Rio de Janeiro team, currently the sole leader of the Brasileirão , now turns its attention to the continental tournament. With the advantage of a draw, the goal is to secure a spot in the quarterfinals and continue its quest for a fourth Libertadores title. In the group stage, the club finished second in Group C with 11 points , the same score as leaders LDU. In seven matches, they recorded four wins, two draws, and one loss.

CONMEBOL announced this week that Uruguayan referee Esteban Ostojich will officiate the match between Flamengo and Internacional , the second leg of the Copa Libertadores Round of 16 , at Beira-Rio Stadium. He is considered one of the most experienced referees in South America and has already been involved in important decisions in the organization's tournaments.
In this edition of the tournament, Ostojich has already officiated in seven matches, being selected in key matches . The referee is frequently chosen for Brazilian club matches, reinforcing his position of trust within CONMEBOL.
Ostojich has refereed four matches involving Flamengo , with a balanced record: two wins, one draw, and one loss. In 2021, he was present for the 3-2 victory over LDU. The following year, he oversaw Corinthians' 1-0 triumph. In 2023, he officiated the 1-1 draw against Ñublense, and in 2024, he refereed the defeat to Palestino, which was marked by refereeing controversy.
Internacional has also been led by the Uruguayan in decisive moments. The most recent example came in the 2023 Copa Libertadores quarterfinals, when the Rio Grande do Sul team defeated Bolívar 2-0 at Beira-Rio . This positive record boosts Colorado's confidence for the decisive clash against Mengão.
