After almost 7 months away from the field, defender Rodrigo Caio saw, together with coach Tite, the opportunity for a new start at Flamengo. The player has been part of the Rubro-Negro squad since 2019, but the last time he played in a match was in April this year. Since then, he had been carrying out work at Ninho do Urubu and serving only as an option on the bench.
With the contract nearing the end, Flamengo has already decided that they do not want to renew the player. However, the soap opera 'R. Caio', may have new chapters thanks to Tite. According to findings by journalist Pablo Raphael, from Gazeta do Urubu, the player is pleased with the coach, who will be ultimately responsible for the athlete's renewal.
''About Rodrigo Caio: I asked people within Flamengo about the player's renewal status. The board's idea was not to renew the athlete, but who will have the last word on this will be Tite, who is aware that the club no longer has the number 3 player.'', said the journalist.
In the confrontation against Fortaleza, last Sunday (05/11), the number 3 completed 150 games with the red and black shirt and celebrated the opportunities that the new coach has provided him.
“I have always been very well physically, training hard and prepared to help, but, unfortunately, I did not receive opportunities with the previous commission. Now, with the arrival of Professor Tite, I had these two opportunities and I believe I showed that I am ready to help our team” declared Rodrigo Caio.
The new technical committee, upon realizing that the player was in rhythm game, opted to reinstate Rodrigo to the starting lineup, seeking to demonstrate to the fans that he still has the ability to perform at a high level.
“As I said, I had been training at high intensity for a long time and I am ready to help. I have a lot of confidence in my potential and I know very well what I can deliver on the field for our team and our coach,” he said.
