The weekend was one of victories for women's artistic gymnastics at Mengão. The girls won the State Championship title for Adults and Children, in a competition held at the Claudio Coutinho Gym, in Gávea. Hellen Vitória was the best in the individual all-around, as she performed on all four devices.
Olympic and world champion Rebeca Andrade competed and won in the table vault. The gymnast had the best average (14.45) followed by Jade Barbosa with 14.40.
“It's always great to be able to compete at home alongside the fans. It was a quieter competition but it served as good training for the Brazilian that is coming up”, said Rebeca, who only performed on this apparatus.
After the foot injury, which left her out for a while, Flavia Saraiva returned to State. The gymnast performed on the beam and did not hide the joy of competing.
“It's great to be back and still compete in my city, in Flamengo. It was a preparatory competition for the Brazilian Nationals, with only two weeks to go. It's very rewarding to see people rooting for us gymnasts, with all that affection and commitment”, completed Flavinha, who came second on the balance beam. The young Hellen Vitória secured the gold.
Lorrane Oliveira was the best in the parallel and took the gold medal with a safe display that earned her a 13.9 from the judges.
The vice-president of Olympic Sports Guilherme Kroll was present, was honored by the Rio Gymnastics Federation and spoke about the red-black sovereignty in the modality.
“Flamengo is a barn of stars. Our children are prepared to win since childhood and nothing better than having mirrors like Rebeca, Jade, Lorrane and Flavinha. We are in charge of our iron ladies, Georgette Vidor and Roberta Perilier, who masterfully lead the department. Flamengo, without a doubt, is Brazil's women's gymnastics”, he concluded.
The Red-Black team will perform again from August 16th to 20th in the Brazilian Championship, in Lauro de Freitas, Bahia.
After a strong performance in the transfer market, Mengão director admits to trying to get a star player from the yellow jersey and hopes to get another opportunity.

Flamengo remains active behind the scenes to assemble a competitive squad for the start of the next Brazilian volleyball season. With new investments in the project, the club is targeting a key reinforcement: opposite Rosamaria, a standout player for the Brazilian national team and one of the country's top players.

In response to a fan on social media who called for the athlete's signing, Flamengo 's director of Olympic sports, Marcus Vinícius Freire, admitted the red-and-black's desire: "Our wish too. This year we tried, but we couldn't make it happen . Who knows next year?" he declared.
Rosamaria is considered one of Brazil's top volleyball players today . A key player for the national team, she was a key player in the 2022 World Cup runner-up finish and won a silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She has also finished runner-up in the Nations League three times.
Currently, the opposite hitter plays for Denso Airybees in Japan, where she recently renewed her contract. An idol of the Asian team, she will play her sixth season with the club , but Mengão continues to monitor the developments in the Brazilian national team's career.
While dreaming about Rosamaria, Flamengo has already secured important reinforcements for the season . So far, the club has announced the arrival of five players: Tainara (opposite player for the Brazilian national team), Giovana, Vivian, Masa Kiryu, and American Simone Lee.

Former player and idol of Flamengo basketball Olivinha announced this Tuesday (09) that he will not continue on Flamengo TV. Since October 2024, he worked as a commentator on the club's official channel , but confirmed the end of the contract through social media.

In the message , Olivinha thanked him for the opportunity to work in communications, highlighted what he learned during the experience, and explained that there was no agreement to renew his contract . Despite this, he emphasized that he will continue to follow and support Flamengo TV as a fan.
"I'd like to let everyone know that I'm no longer a part of FlamengoTV . Olivinha officially retired in June 2024 at the age of 41, ending more than two decades in professional basketball. In Brazil, in addition to his remarkable career with Flamengo, he also played for Pinheiros , where he won the 2011 São Paulo State Championship. Philadelphia 76ers star center Joel Embiid, MVP of the 2022/23 NBA season, once again demonstrated his affection for Flamengo . Last Thursday (21), the Cameroonian player was spotted in an official club store, in Cabo Frio (RJ) , where he made a point of purchasing several red-black products.
Although unusual, Embiid's presence in the Lakes Region has a reason. Married to Brazilian model Anne de Paula, the athlete often visits the city, where his father-in-law lives, during the holidays. This time, he took the opportunity to explore the "Nação Rubro-Negra" store and expand his Flamengo memorabilia collection.
The star's arrival took everyone by surprise and caused great excitement among the employees. Salesman Kauan said he was so nervous when he met the player that he forgot to remove the alarm from a piece of furniture, creating an unusual moment: " His father-in-law even joked with me afterward. It was an unforgettable experience ," he revealed.

The defender even posted a photo with the star: " Nice to meet you, brother ." Thus, the relationship between Joel Embiid and Flamengo continues to grow, uniting basketball and soccer in a connection that already transcends borders.
