The consortium formed by Flamengo and Fluminense is in the process of becoming official as manager of Maracanã for the next 20 years. This Wednesday, it was revealed that the duo made the most valuable financial offer (they had already received the highest score in the previous stage, technical evaluation). As a result, the fans wonder if this victory represents an end to the dream of their own stadium on the Gasometer ground, in the center of Rio.

According to vice general Rodrigo Dunshee, an advance does not interfere in the other. After opening the envelopes, at the Guanabara Palace, the leader tried to avoid the issue. But he stressed that they are "different business units". "Look, this matter is with the president of Flamengo, Rodolfo Landim. I'm here representing Flamengo on the Maracanã issue. Now, there are two different business units. They are two isolated issues. Maracanã is a big business in itself But I'm not here to talk about Gasometer. I'm here today to talk about Maracanã", said Dunshee.

This Tuesday, the Rio State Government's Civil House Secretariat opened the financial proposals for the two candidacies. remainders (the other is from Vasco/WTorre). Fla-Flu's was slightly higher: R$20,060,874.12 versus R$20,000,777.28. As the duo had also obtained a higher score in the previous phase, winning the bid is just a matter of completing the bureaucracy for publication in the Official Gazette. The expectation is that this will happen by the end of the month.

"The consortium will be able to do several things at Maracanã that it would not be able to do nowadays. It would not be possible to invest so much in the business because you could lose it six months later. Now we will have 20 years to work. It's completely different. It will change that now you have time to make bigger projects, bigger investments, call on more partners, offer more products to consumers", added Dunshee.

The project for its own stadium in the center of Rio has always run parallel to participation in the Maracanã bid. Flamengo is negotiating the acquisition of the land with Caixa Econômica Federal, manager of the fund that owns the space. The matter is dealt with directly by President Rodolfo Landim. Caixa values the land at R$250 million. Initially, Flamengo was willing to pay around a third of that amount. But, after conversations with the club, the bank understood that the red and blacks are willing to increase the value. But no proposal has been made yet.

In addition, Mayor Eduardo Paes' promise to send the Chamber a bill to transfer the construction potential of Flamengo's headquarters changed the mood of the state-owned company. The term refers to the amount of construction allowed in a space. Even with projects for the Gávea land, the club will not reach the maximum allowed. If approved by the municipal authorities, this surplus can also be used as currency.

Veteran David Luiz is once again being considered to leave Flamengo, the club he has defended since 2021. At the time, the defender had just left Arsenal, in England. Since then, the defender has established himself as one of the leaders of the squad and has won multiple titles for the club. However, since last year, David has been losing space, even being considered to end his cycle with the team at the end of 2023.

And, although he remained, his situation has not changed, even having worsened with the arrival of Léo Ortiz. In the midst of this, Internacional emerged as interested, but will have to pay to sign him. The Flamenguista channel in Portugal reported this Friday (17) that Mengão, although it does not rule out losing the veteran, is not willing to release him for free.

In this scenario, if you wish to count on the player already in the second half of the year, the Colorado club will have to pay a transfer fee to close the deal.

The value, however, tends to be low, as the defender's contract will end in December . Still, Inter hoped they could get a free release.

The channel still states that there are no formal conversations yet, with Mengão having only defined his position in the face of the situation. In 2024, David has only seven matches and no goals scored.

President Rodolfo Landim explained why Flamengo was enchanted by the Gasologista land, managed by Caixa Econômica Federal, to build its stadium. According to the agent, the ease of public transport logistics made Rubro-Negro analyze the location as plan A to have their own home.

“The decision by the Gasometer was based on an assessment that We did it over the city of Rio de Janeiro, analyzing all the areas that are still open and potentially available so that a stadium could be fitted. And it also involves a lot of facilitating the logistics of arriving fans”, Landim told GE.

In another part of the interview, the Flamengo president mentioned what the options for arrivals at Gasometer would be.

“There at that point you have a bus station exactly in front of the land. You have a terminal that was just built there, which is Terminal Gentileza, where you bring together the end of the BRT lines and the VLT lines. And you are about 1.1 km away from Cidade Nova station, where you have the train and subway”, he pondered.

“It is essential that you have local public transport, where you can take people with public transport. Mass transport to be able to transport fans. Maracanã is exceptional in this regard, because you have a train and subway right outside the stadium, there are wide avenues where people can reach by bus. So you need to go by mass transport”, Landim ended by saying.

As soon as Flamengo completes the purchase of the land, the club expects to build its stadium in Gasologista in five years.
