In the eighth round of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo and Cruzeiro drew 1-1, in front of a crowd of more than 60 thousand red and black fans at Maracanã. Part of the Flamengo fans even expressed their dissatisfaction with insults as the team left the field. This occurred because some fans understood that the rival was superior in the confrontation, a view shared by player Mateus Vital. The athlete from the celestial team made a strong statement after the game, stating that the miners deserved to win at the "Sacred Temple".

"I believe that it is always positive to win points away from home. And, in the way As the game unfolded in the second half, I think we deserved to leave here with the three points. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to do it, even though we had two clear chances to score. But it's important to celebrate, we played a good game, better than Flamengo, and we did. we deserved to come away with victory", said Mateus Vital in a post-game interview at Maracanã.

Despite Cruzeiro's dominance in parts of the match, it was Flamengo who came closest to victory throughout the game. This occurred because, in the first half, Pedro was brought down in the area and the referee signaled a penalty after a VAR review. Gabigol was responsible for the charge, but hit the post. In addition to the bitter result, Flamengo also received two bad news: Léo Pereira and Wesley. Both players left with pain and are now doubts for Mengo's next games.

Filipe Luís is one of the "jewels" among Brazilian football coaches. With the red-and-black coach still in charge, the team maintains a real chance of winning the Brasileirão Betano and the Copa Libertadores . With 50 points from 22 matches, the club sits atop Série A and is solidifying itself as a top contender for the national cup.

According to information published by the newspaper “O Globo” this Wednesday (17), José Boto, Flamengo's football director, met with businessman Jorge Mendes to discuss the renewal of Filipe Luís' contract . COACH REFUSED FENERBAHÇE'S OFFER

In recent weeks, Filipe Luís received an offer from Fenerbahçe of Turkey, but opted to remain with the Rio de Janeiro club.
