Former Flamengo player and idol, Diego Ribas participated in the podcast Denílson Show and shared his opinion about Gabigol's departure from the club. Diego traveled recently to represent Rubro-Negro in the draw for the 2025 Super World Cup, alongside president Rodolfo Landim, where he had the opportunity to discuss the topic in depth.

According to Diego, he recognizes Gabigol's flaws, but believes that Flamengo's decision to pay tribute to the striker It was the right one. The former player highlighted the importance of putting differences aside and prioritizing the history built by such a remarkable athlete, allowing fans to say goodbye in a dignified manner.

"Gabigol, in some moments, made mistakes. Attitudes that were not legal, and had the consequence of that, I believe he Flamengo, I was with Landim recently, I said what I think about this relationship they had. I believe there were flaws on both sides, which got a little worn out. But in the end, Flamengo was happy, because it gave the tribute and the end of a cycle that it deserves", start.

"I think that every time a manager treats the club as his own, he makes mistakes. He he is also there in passing, managing something much bigger than himself. This something much bigger, there are idols, people who built stories there, whether you like it or not, you have to respect that and give it the tribute it deserves. There were problems, were clearly in conflict, but in the last game, let's pay homage, do what he deserves", he adds.

Comparison with Dudu and criticism of Palmeiras management

Diego also took the opportunity to compare the case of Gabigol at Flamengo with the departure of Dudufrom < b>Palm trees. According to him, the situation of the Palmeiras player was similar, but was poorly handled by president Leila Pereira.

For the former midfielder, the absence of a suitable farewell for Dudu was a serious error by the Alviverde management. He highlighted that the idol left through the “back door”, leaving fans without the chance to pay tribute to a player who marked his time at the club.

"At Palmeiras, I think they made a lot of mistakes. Dudu may have had his mistakes, the same thing as Gabi. I admire the Leila, I already praised her attitude. But at this moment, it was wrong. It conveys the feeling that 'the club is mine', and it is not. of an idol, pay homage to him and end this cycle", he concludes.

Interestingly, both Dudu and Gabigol could meet again at the same club. Cruzeiro, which is negotiating with Gabigol, is also mentioned as a possible destination for Dudu, which could create a partnership between two of the biggest recent idols in Brazilian football.

Diego Ribas ended his participation by reinforcing Gabigol's legacy at Flamengo, highlighting that, despite the cycle having ended, the fans' gratitude for the attacker's achievements will remain.

INJURY AGAINST BAYERN

The injury occurred during the Club World Cup Round of 16 match against Bayern Munich. The midfielder had already suffered the same type of fracture in his first months at the club, when it took him about 60 days to return to the squad.

RETURN TO GAMES

Although coach Filipe Luís stated that he was counting on the Chilean for the Libertadores quarterfinals, it is unlikely that he will be on the field for the matches against Estudiantes , scheduled for September 18 and 25. Pulgar is expected to be available later in the season, reinforcing Flamengo's role in the ongoing competitions.

Coach Filipe Luís turned down an offer from Fenerbahçe of Turkey to remain with the club he leads at Flamengo. According to a report by the UOL portal, the European club approached Flamengo's board and expressed formal interest in the coach . Despite admitting his desire to one day work in European football, Filipe Luís preferred not to open negotiations , understanding that his career in Brazil is still ongoing.

Fenerbahçe even signaled financial compensation to the Rio de Janeiro club , but as neither the coach nor the board were willing to end the current project, the talks did not progress.

The club's management has already submitted a contract renewal proposal to Filipe Luís , valid until the end of 2026 and renewable for another year, including a salary increase. The coach, who signed in 2024 with a salary lower than that of the country's elite coaches , has not yet pushed for a raise and has promised to submit a counterproposal.

DESIRE TO WORK IN EUROPE

Filipe Luís has always publicly stated his ambition to coach European clubs. However, he understands that he is undergoing a process of professional development and that remaining in Brazil helps in this development. Internally, this vision is seen as a positive factor in maintaining his position at least until next season.

INTEREST FROM OTHER CLUBS

In addition to Fenerbahçe, Germany's Bayer Leverkusen has also recently expressed interest in Filipe Luís. Even so, the board believes the coach won't leave Mengão at this time to pursue a project abroad, and is confident he'll stay until the end of his current term at Flamengo .
