After starting the national tournament with two defeats, Flamengo's under-17 team showed a very different performance at home. From the first minutes, the team showed intensity, offensive posture and better organization than in previous games. The score was opened in the 19th minute of the first half, in an unfortunate move by the opponent. Full-back Victor Carvalho deflected the ball into his own goal when trying to block a shot by Diego, and put the Rubro-Negro from Rio ahead.
Shortly after, at 28, individual talent appeared. Ryan Roberto, one of the most promising names of the generation, extended the lead after a good collective play by the team. It was the first of two goals he would score in the match. Despite dominating, the team led by Mário Jorge was unable to keep the score at zero until half-time. At 39, Davi Alves, Athletico's number 9, took advantage of a mistake in the Flamengo defense and scored for the visitors.
After the break, Flamengo tried to cool down any possibility of a comeback from the team from Paraná. Once again, Ryan Roberto. The forward showed opportunism by scoring the team's third goal 15 minutes into the second half, sealing his great performance at Gávea. Seven minutes later, Jhefinho took advantage of a rebound inside the area and scored the fourth for the Rio de Janeiro team, sealing the rout at home. The result was the team's strongest so far in the tournament, which is still looking for a spot among the top eight in the group stage.
In addition to the brilliance of Ryan, who has been standing out in youth competitions throughout the season, the team showed clear signs of tactical evolution and concentration in both halves — something that the coaching staff had been demanding since the beginning of the championship. The match was not broadcast live, which has been a constant complaint from fans and even members of the youth team. Even so, those who attended the Gávea headquarters closely followed a consistent performance by the young red-and-blacks.
Flamengo's starting lineup was formed by Gabriel Werneck; Heitor, Pedro Pinho, Levy Dias and Fábio Henrique; Matheus Thiago, Lucas Falcone and João Vitor; Dieguinho, Ryan Roberto and Luiz Guilherme. A balanced formation, with good distribution between sectors and a focus on the game supported by the midfield.
