Brazil's artistic gymnastics is one of the great hopes for a medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and Flávia Saraiva, Flamengo athlete, is a fundamental part of the search for the podiums. The athlete attracted attention from a very young age in Fla and the national team, faced injuries and arrived at the Games at her peak.


Standing in gymnastics from a very young age, Flávia was already a Pan-American medalist. American and Youth Olympics when he arrived at Flamengo in 2016, aged just 16. The year also marked her debut at the Olympic Games and the beginning of a success story with the Brazilian team, but which required moments of great resilience to be able to arrive in Paris dreaming of medals.


The red-and-black gymnast He suffered serious injuries, some during important tournaments, and has already revealed that his physical problems also affected his mental health during his career. But she was rewarded for her persistence in 2023, with her first individual medal at the World Cup and a record at the Pan-American Championships.


2024 was full of podiums at stages of the World Cup and at the last tournament before Paris. Now, at 24 years old, the gymnast who always speaks with pride about being a Flamengo athlete is preparing to make another dream come true. Remember your career since arriving at Fla: Flávia Saraiva started gymnastics when she was just eight years old and, at 11, she decided to leave the city of Rio de Janeiro to train in Três Rios, in the south of the state. She trained in a project created by Georgette Vido, historic coach and current coordinator of Flamengo's artistic gymnastics.

The spotlight came naturally, as did call-ups. He made his debut for the Brazilian Senior Team in 2015, already with medals at the World Cup and the Pan-American Games in Toronto. A few months later, she would be invited to go to Gávea to accompany her teammates at the reopening of the Claudio Coutinho Gymnasium. At the beginning of the following year, she would return permanently.


The conversations lasted a few months until March 2016, when the gymnast finally agreed to become a red-and-black athlete. Flávia would also start training at the club alongside Rebeca Andrade and Jade Barbosa.

The young woman not only qualified for the Olympic Games, which earned her a plaque on the gym wall, but also reached the individual beam final and for teams. She came in fifth and eighth place, respectively. Eight years and many medals later, Flávia, Rebeca and Jade are heading to the Olympics to stand on the podium together.

After finding out who their opponents will be in the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão , Flamengo decided this Tuesday (8) which team they will face in the third phase of the Women's Copa do Brasil: Operário-MS, in a single match for a place in the round of 16.

The draw for the matches defined who would be the home team of the match and, as it was drawn first, Mengo won the right to play at home. The dates may still be subject to adjustments by the CBF.


It is worth noting that Flamengo enters the competition in the third phase, where the 16 teams from the Brasileirão Feminino Series A enter the tournament and join the 16 teams that qualified from the second phase. Operário started in the first phase and advanced after beating Mixto-PB and Remo.

On Saturday morning (5), Clube de Regatas do Flamengo competed in the Third Regatta of the 2025 State Rowing Championship, held at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas. After great performances in the first two stages of the season, the red-black team maintained the high level and repeated the feat : VICTORY! There were nine triumphs in races, as in previous regattas.


The day began with a gold medal for the Macaquinho Sagrado athletes in the Women's Four Skiff event. Soon after, Flamengo won gold and silver in the same competition — the Men's 4 — showing the strength of the team. They didn't make it to the podium in the next event, but the team soon won again and secured more medals throughout the morning. In total, there were 17 medals for Flamengo.


With this result, Mengão remains in the lead of the State Championship. The competition calendar will continue on August 31, October 5 and November 16.

On Saturday night, the 21st, Flamengo's Social Responsibility department was notably recognized with the AIDEP Social Impact Award during the FutEdu Summit 2025. The ceremony took place at the Hard Rock Café, in Curitiba, and brought together representatives of clubs and institutions that work with sports and social impact in South America.


Organized by the International Association for the Development of Sports and Parasports - AIDEP, the award is a recognition given to clubs and institutions that use football as a tool for social transformation.


The award highlighted Flamengo's Social Responsibility work as a reference in promoting opportunities for children and teenagers from socially vulnerable contexts, combining football with socio-emotional education, such as Jogaremos Juntos, Flamengo's social project, which includes 1,000 children and teenagers in eight communities in Rio and Baixada Fluminense, as well as other social initiatives of the club that have already impacted more than 200,000 people.


AWARD PURPOSE

“Welcoming Flamengo to the FutEdu Summit is an immense honor. A club with so much history and relevance in Brazilian football inspires and further strengthens our commitment to education through sport,” said Diogo Netto, CEO of the FutEdu Summit.
