An important player for Flamengo in winning the Copa do Brasil in 2013, goalkeeper Felipe, currently 40 years old, continues to be active in the world of football. After leaving Sampaio Corrêa, his new destination is Differdange, in Luxembourg.

Since January 2024, the goalkeeper has defended the colors of Sampaio Corrêa, where he was champion of Maranhão. In Series C, however, the team only occupies 15th place. Individually, Felipe had regular performances during the 31 games played.

This regularity caught the attention of the European club, which proposed a contract until mid-2026. The offer was accepted by the athlete, who will help his new team – Luxembourg champion – in the preliminary round of the Champions League.

In the competition, Differdange will face Klaksvík, from the Faroe Islands. This will be the first time that the team will participate in the playoffs of the European competition. To reach the league stage (formerly the group stage), the team will need to go through four knockout stages.

Now at a club competing in the Champions League, Felipe rotated through several teams after leaving Flamengo

After a troubled departure from Rubro-Negro, due to the club's debts to the athlete and the rise of former Flamengo player Paulo Victor, Felipe went through 11 clubs until arriving at the Luxembourg team. Shortly after leaving Mengão, the archer played for Figueirense (2015) and, the following year, for Bragantino, which at the time did not yet have a partnership with Red Bull.

After that he played for Boavista-RJ (2017), Uberlândia (2018), Botafogo-PB (2020 and 2021), Taubaté (2022), Paraná (2022 and 2023), Santa Rosa (2023) until reaching Sampaio Corrêa. In the meantime, he had his last stint in Europe defending Kisvarda (2018/19 and 2019/20), from Hungary. There, Felipe was voted the best goalkeeper in the national championship.

At Differdange, the player will make his third visit to the old continent. This is because, even before playing for Mengão, he played for Braga, in Portugal, in the 2010/11 season. There, he had his first experience in the Champions League, reaching the group stage.

In the main European tournament, he played seven matches, won five and lost two others. In total, they conceded 12 goals, but ended up eliminated in the group stage.

What Felipe's time at Mengão was like

With the Sacred Mantle, Felipe He played 183 matches, conceded 200 goals and saved 11 penalties. His debut was in January 2011, in a duel against Volta Redonda, won 2-0. However, if the start was with victory, his final game for Mengão was suffering a rout. In July 2014, Flamengo suffered 0-4 against Internacional, in Beira-Rio.

➕ Felipe breaks the silence and opens up about the 'stolen is tastier' controversy
