The player ended up falling to the pitch, but as Sampaoli had already run out of stops to make substitutions, it was not possible to remove the defender. With that, the coach ordered the athlete to act as a center forward. Minutes later, to the joy of the Argentine coach, the defender and the Nation, the red and black goal came along with the victory.

Flamengo, this time, focuses in the Copa Libertadores da América dispute. Next Wednesday (24), Mais Querido will face Ñublense (CHI), starting at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), in a game valid for the fourth round of the group stage of the continental tournament. The match will take place at the Municipal Stadium of Concepción, in Chile.

Dois anos após a saída de Gabigol do Flamengo, o tema ainda gera discussões nos bastidores do futebol brasileiro. O ex-vice-presidente de futebol do clube, Marcos Braz, que atualmente exerce função diretiva no Remo, decidiu esclarecer os motivos que levaram ao fim do ciclo do atacante na Gávea.
Em entrevista recente ao portal 'GE', o dirigente afirmou que a renovação contratual estava praticamente certa, mas foi sabotada pela disseminação de notícias falsas e conflitos internos. Segundo Braz, o processo de extensão do vínculo seguiu todos os trâmites burocráticos e hierárquicos do clube, mas narrativas externas acabaram minando a confiança entre as partes e impedindo a assinatura do presidente Rodolfo Landim.
Ao relembrar o episódio, Marcos Braz foi enfático ao defender sua conduta durante as negociações. O dirigente classificou como "covardia" as acusações de que teria fechado valores sem a devida autorização superior, alegando que precisou se manter em silêncio na época para proteger o sigilo de certas situações do clube.
"O Gabriel sabe a verdade. A negociação feita, todos os trâmites, e previamente passou pelos setores que deveriam passar no clube. Feita uma covardia de alguns vagabundos que falaram que eu fechei um número sem estar autorizado e o Landim não assinou, e eu não podia me defender porque teria que dar detalhes em algumas situações e fiquei quieto", desabafou Braz.
O ex-VP completou explicando que, com o desgaste e o passar do tempo, a diretoria optou por recuar. "O tempo passando, a coisa não se concretizou e deu o desfecho que deu. O que posso falar é que o departamento de futebol do Flamengo fez todos os trâmites de renovação de um contrato como sempre fez em seis anos. Chegou a um momento e a determinada situação que entendiam que não teriam que renovar e andar para frente com o que autorizado e isso que aconteceu", concluiu.
A saída de Gabigol ocorreu em um cenário complexo. Entre 2023 e 2024, o ídolo enfrentou uma fase de baixo desempenho técnico, coincidindo com o último ano da gestão de Rodolfo Landim e Marcos Braz. Na ocasião, a diretoria rubro-negra chegou a formalizar uma proposta de renovação por apenas mais um ano, oferecendo um reajuste salarial de 50%.
