Flamengo's former vice-president of finance, Rodrigo Tostes, refused the invitation of the club's new president, Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap) to assume the role of CEO. The reason would have been personal issues, which greatly involve his professional career.
Bap still he had not made the decision, but it was the president-elect's wish to have Tostes in office. Despite his refusal, the former leader of the Landim administration will be part of the Board of Directors, of which the vice-presidents are part. The structure that the new management intends to implement is very businesslike, with the CEO organizing the decisions taken by the Board of Directors (CoDi). This will have vice-presidents without a specific portfolio. The idea is to align the process with everyone taking part, giving their opinion on all areas.
One of the names, in addition to Tostes, who will be part of CoDi, which will have around ten names, will be Fábio Coelho, president of Google Brazil. The idea is to make the administration of Flamengo similar to that of a large multinational company.
Tostes explained what motivated him to join Bap
In an interview In July, Tostes explained his disagreement with Landim, which ended up leading to his departure from Flamengo's finance department.
“My vision and work alignment with Bap is very great. As always, I choose what I believe is best for Flamengo. I took the initiative to talk to President Landim because it would be bad for the club if we supported different candidates. By mutual agreement, we decided that it was better for me to leave”, explained Tostes.
