In addition to the opening match against Espérance, Mais Querido will face Chelsea from England on the 19th at 3pm (Brasília time). The last match of the group stage will be against Los Angeles FC on the 22nd at 10pm. The two best-placed teams in the group will advance to the round of 16 of the tournament. According to Bandeira de Mello, the work that began in 2013 was aimed at restoring the club’s status as a protagonist in international tournaments. “ We were doing groundwork, focusing on the long term. The club was in a catastrophic situation. We were concerned not only about the financial liabilities, but also about ethics and morals,” he highlighted. The structural change served as the basis for subsequent achievements and for the current participation in the FIFA tournament.
