Julio Cesar was moved in a recent interview where he recounted his first experience defending Flamengo's goal with the professional team. An idol of the fans and a red-and-black with all his heart, Cria do Ninho has already been considered the best goalkeeper internationally twice, in addition to having collaborated with the Brazilian team in important moments.

The goalkeeper went to the new Flamengo Museum last Wednesday (06), when he was in Rio de Janeiro. There he had the pleasure of marveling at the story of Mais Querido, which is also his story. He said how happy it was to be able to see the Flamengo Museum take shape, not only as a player who grew up at the club, but also as a fanatical fan.

"I arrived at this club at the age of 12 and really being part of this history is a source of great pride. I was born in Caxias, in 1979, and started playing football at the age of 9, arriving in Gávea at the age of 12. There's no way not to spend a film in my head. Sometimes I say that I don't know why Flamengo fans are so affectionate", commented the former goalkeeper, in an interview with 'FlaTV'.

Julio's debut as goalkeeper for the professional team was in the May 13, 1997. At the time, the star was just 17 years old and already had to face the second leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-final against Palmeiras. He entered the field at 33', when the starting goalkeeper, Zé Carlos - Julio's "idol", according to him - began to feel pain in his back.

Julio began by describing the whole situation as “surreal”. Not just because he would play for the team he always loved, but because he was in a very important match and still replacing the man he deeply admired.

He didn't forget to point out how the Palmeiras team was somewhat intimidating with 'big names' like Velloso, Cafu, Galeano and Djalminha. It was "a selection" indeed. "At the same time I thought: 'Don't leave, stay!' I tried to seek immediate concentration, because I had trained a lot to get to that moment", he explained about his 'confused' emotions.

"Despite being young, I was always very self-confident. I knew I was good", said Julio, but without forgetting that everything shook him and his legs didn't stop shaking before entering field. He found all the concentration he was looking for in coach Sebastião Rocha.

Crying, Julio told the reporter that he saw the 'teacher' a little nervous and tense, and decided to say: "Don't be nervous, because I'm not!". Even though the statement wasn't 100% true, it gave the goalkeeper the confidence he needed to face the challenge. After that, the rest of the match was stress-free and Flamengo managed to win 1-0.

At Flamengo, Julio has seven titles on his resume: four Rio de Janeiro championships, one World Champions Cup, one Copa Champions League and a Mercosur Cup. He is the third goalkeeper with the most games with the Sacred Mantle. He is only behind Zé Carlos himself and Cantarelli. There were 287 matches in total.

When he arrived in Europe, his talent was even more recognized, having been named 'Best Goalkeeper of the Season' by UEFA in 2009 and 2010. And you can't forget that he saved the Brazilian team's goal. Julio is a two-time Confederations Cup Champion, Copa América Champion and was present at three World Cups.

Victor Hugo recently returned to the club after a loan spell at Goztepe in Turkey. The contract with the Turkish club included a buyout clause set at 8 million euros (approximately R$51 million) , but the European team chose not to exercise the option. Without a place in the squad led by Filipe Luís, the player is not part of the plans for the rest of the season.

Initially, Famalicão discussed the possibility of a new loan , but the talks evolved into a permanent transfer, considered the most advantageous solution by Flamengo 's football department.

PASSING TURKEY

During his time at Goztepe, Victor Hugo made 35 appearances, starting 12 of them, and scored three goals. He was involved in the team's eighth-place finish in the national league and also in the team's run to the semi-finals of the Turkish Cup, ending his spell with a stoppage-time goal against Kasimpasa on May 30.

On Tuesday (1), Zenit agreed to sign Gerson after depositing the amount of the midfielder's termination fee into Flamengo's bank account. Thus, with the amount, Mais Querido reached the budget target set for the season.

At the beginning of the season, Flamengo's idea was to raise around 35 million euros (R$225 million) from the sale of athletes in 2025. In this way, Rubro-Negro surpassed the mark, as it raised 47 million euros (R$302 million).

ALCARAZ AND FABRÍCIO BRUNO HELP TO COMPLEMENT THE GOAL

It is worth remembering that before the sale of Gerson , Flamengo had already agreed the sales of Fabrício Bruno, to Cruzeiro for 7 million euros (R$ 44 million) and Carlos Alcaraz, to Everton (ING), for 15 million euros (R$ 96 million).

BILLING MAY INCREASE

Despite having already surpassed the target set at the beginning of the year, Flamengo can still raise more money. This is because more players like Wesley are expected to leave during this transfer window. The full-back has already received inquiries from several European football clubs and could be sold for up to 35 million euros (R$225 million).

FOCUS ON SEASON SEQUENCE

Without Gerson, coach Filipe Luís will begin preparing the team for the rest of the season. Now, Rubro-Negro will focus its attention on the Brazilian Championship, Libertadores and Copa do Brasil. In the Brazilian Championship, Mais Querido is the leader, with 24 points, in addition to being qualified for the round of 16 of the knockout stages.
