Flamengo performed at this Friday morning (24.05), in the Rogerio Steinberg auditorium, at the Gávea headquarters, a breakfast with journalists and red-black influencers to publicize the club's Social Responsibility actions. In addition, the department's report was also presented, highlighting the continuous efforts and results achieved in its initiatives aimed at socially vulnerable people. Founded in 2019, the vice presidency embraces the responsibility of using the club's influence to make a positive social impact. The recently released report, referring to the year 2023, highlights in a transparent and objective manner the initiatives adopted to contribute significantly to social development, in its four lines of work: Education, Social Inclusion, Sustainability and Health and Quality of Life.< /p>

“Flamengo is more than a club; It is a link that unites people towards a common goal: promoting a fairer and more sustainable society. The Social Responsibility Report reflects our commitment to the community and social development. During 2023, in union with Social Institutions, we reached thousands of young people and children with projects, providing the path towards a brighter future.”, states Ricardo Campelo, vice-president of the department.

< In its commitment to Education, the club's Social Responsibility Department's main focus is socio-emotional education and the right to learning, implementing projects that contribute to quality education for all. The projects developed include social institutions throughout Rio de Janeiro, and serve children and young people from communities.

“The idea of this breakfast was a way we found to publicize the department. Many people are unaware of our work. And the intention is precisely that the actions multiply so that more and more people can be reached”, said Ângela Machado, director of social responsibility.

Among the projects focused on Education are “We Will Play Together ”, “Perfect Pass”, “Future of the Nation”, “Back to School, Nation!”, “COME READ, COME READ, COME READ!” and “Fla Comunica”. In partnership with social institutions and public schools throughout Rio de Janeiro, the projects work with education through sport, training young educators, encouraging writing and reading, and keeping children and young people in schools.

Within the scope of Sustainability, the aim is to promote projects and initiatives that encourage, among its internal and external audiences, reflection on environmental preservation, as well as awareness about sustainable practices and environmental education.

The actions allow participants to collaborate with the planting of trees with the “Pé de Gol” project, which together with the city hall, the Department of the Environment and technical supervision of the Perma Lab Institute, has already planted more than 2,000 trees in degraded and preservation areas. Recycling is also addressed in projects with “Recicla, Nação”, which, through the recycling of plastic and cardboard, and together with Instituto Soul Ambiental, collaborated to combat food insecurity among socially vulnerable people.

< p>In Social Inclusion projects, the Department established the opening of spaces and channels that recognize identities, cultures, ethnicities, beliefs and genders, encouraging social development to create safer communities.

The commitment to social inclusion Social Inclusion also includes professional training for Brazilian and refugee women with the “Ombro a Ombro” project. And with “Nação no Maraca”, which, together with institutions, took people from socially vulnerable groups such as homeless people, sheltered from social reintegration institutions, indigenous peoples, refugees, public school students, to Maracanã. The project aims to promote the democratization of spaces.

The actions are also aimed at the internal public, the “Combat Racism” project, in partnership with the Instituto dos Pretos Novos, took athletes from Flamengo basketball for a meeting about awareness of respect and equality. The Department of Social Responsibility, in union with collaborators from other departments such as human resources, communication, women's football, youth football and Olympic sports, created the working group to combat racism to, through study, contribute to the promotion of racial equality.

Flamengo also recognizes the importance of health and quality of life, promoting and supporting actions, campaigns, projects and initiatives that provide the physical and mental well-being of its members and the community in general.

Despite the defeat to Santos this past Wednesday (16), the Nação Rubro-Negra can celebrate this Thursday (17), as Flamengo has officially become a historical, cultural and intangible heritage of Rio de Janeiro.

"This title is, therefore, recognition for everything the club has provided to the population. It is an honor for Rio de Janeiro to host a club like Flamengo," declared Governor Cláudio Castro. Bill 2.468/23 was created by Representative Verônica Lima and was approved by the Rio de Janeiro State Legislative Assembly (Alerj) on June 24.

The Flamengo Regatas Group was officially founded on November 15, 1895. Since then, the Most Beloved has become one of the largest multi-sport clubs in South America. Furthermore, the Rubro-Negro boasts the largest fan base in world football and has won numerous titles over the years.
