The old Terra Encantada, once a vibrant amusement park that enchanted children and adults, deactivated in 2010 and later demolished in 2016, now reemerges as a viable possibility to house the new red-black temple.

Interest in the land in Barra da Tijuca is nothing new for Flamengo. On several occasions, the board explored this option, although plan A was always the Gasometer. However, given the recent complications and impasses surrounding the original project, Terra Encantada is back on the agenda as a realistic alternative.

A NEW HOME? CAN FLAMENGO ACHIEVE IT?

Comparatively, the land in Barra da Tijuca has an advantage in terms of size, covering an area of 200 thousand square meters, compared to 87 thousand meters Gasometer squares. This significant difference in space can offer the club more possibilities for expansion and development of a modern and functional stadium, capable of meeting the demands of a fan base as numerous and fervent as that of Flamengo.

Rodolfo Landim, current president of the club, expressed his desire to complete the purchase of the land this year, demonstrating a firm commitment to the realization of this dream shared by millions of fans across the country.

Although the preference initially falls on Gasometer, Flamengo's board understands the importance of keeping realistic alternatives under consideration, especially given the complexities and challenges that arose throughout the negotiation and planning process for the stadium.

At the moment, three candidates for Flamengo's presidency are known to the fans: Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Rodrigo Dunshee and Maurício Gomes de Mattos. However, a fourth way is to come, from the group Fla Tradição e Juventude, led by Leonardo Ribeiro, "Capitão Léo", who had problems with Mais Querido's idol, Zico, in 2010.

“The agenda is the following: launch of a candidacy in defense of the co-owner to defend Flamengo's traditions. A true independent candidacy. Because what we are seeing there are three different candidates,” said Léo, on social media.

The group is scheduling a meeting next Thursday (1) to define who the candidate will be. Leader of the Fla Tradição e Juventude group, Captain Léo is not a member. In other words, he will not be able to run for president of Mais Querido. The former leader of Torcida Jovem Fla was expelled from membership after days of suspensions in less than a year. In one of the cases, he was involved in a fight with Luiz Eduardo Baptista, a candidate for the position of president.

FIGHTS WITH ZICO

In 2010, Leonardo Ribeiro stated that the contract signed between Flamengo and Centro de Futebol Zico would be harmful to the club's interests. This is because, according to him, players who were from CFZ started to reach the Rubro-Negro youth categories, gaining more space than those who were already there.

Thus, due to the accusation, Zico filed a lawsuit against Leonardo. After the red-black idol's attitude, the former partner retreated and said he was misunderstood. In 2010, Galinho was football director at Mais Querido.

Flamengo's board of directors called on members of Deliberative Council for a meeting next Monday, at 6:30 pm, at the club's headquarters, in Gávea. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on the release of the initial bid of approximately R$ 138 million in the auction of the Gasologista land, where the club intends to build its new stadium.

“Authorize Flamengo to participate in the auction and offer bids at a value equal to or greater than the valuation, so that Flamengo can acquire the aforementioned property at a value it deems fair, reasonable and compatible with its financial health”, states an excerpt from the call document.

After the expropriation determined by Mayor Eduardo Paes, the minimum bid was established at R$ 138,195,000.00. Apparently, Flamengo will be the only participant in the auction to acquire the land, which belonged to an investment fund managed by Caixa.

The Gasmetro land, located in a strategic area of the city, is seen by Flamengo's board of directors as the ideal location for the construction of a new stadium, which would meet the needs of the club and its vast fans. The acquisition of this land is a fundamental step in the implementation of this ambitious project.

Approval of the initial bid by the Deliberative Council is crucial so that Flamengo can safely advance in negotiations and guarantee the purchase of the land. The expectation is that, with the new home, the club will be able to further increase its revenue and provide a unique experience for its fans.
