As Fla's technical manager, Juan had privileged access to connect the work of the coaching staff and players to the football board. Over the years, the degree of integration between Juan and the technical committees varied according to nationality. The Brazilians managed to bring him closer - it was like that recently with Tite, for example. Juan was open not only because of the powers given by the board, but because the technicians did not see him as a competitor. Therefore, opening up the strategies to Juan would not mean taking the “ball in the back” in the near future.
With the board, Juan reported directly to Bruno Spindel, the football executive. The former player's experience was important in evaluating the potential of some names, such as João Gomes, who was on the verge of being sold before breaking into the first team.

Juan has worked as Flamengo's technical manager since 2019 and will now work in a role in the CBF organization chart that It will be between general coordinator Rodrigo Caetano and coach Dorival Júnior.

After defeating Juventude in the Brazilian Championship , Flamengo will have a busy week with matches in the Copa Libertadores and Brasileirão. Flamengo faces Estudiantes in the quarterfinals of the CONMEBOL Libertadores . The first leg will be held at the Maracanã on September 18th at 9:30 pm (Brasília time).
This will be the ninth official meeting between the teams. In the previous eight, Mengão won three, drew four, and suffered only one defeat against the Argentines. The semifinals will be determined in the second leg in Argentina.
After the Libertadores, Flamengo returns to the Brasileirão and faces Vasco at Maracanã on September 21st at 5:30 pm, in the 24th round . This will be the fifth meeting between the rivals in 2025. In the Carioca, Flamengo won all three games, and in the first round of the national championship, the derby ended goalless.
