Alexandre Mattos, CEO of Cruzeiro, revealed, in an interview with the Jaeci Carvalho channel, on YouTube, this Monday, that striker Michael received inquiries from the Minas Gerais club, before being announced by Flamengo.
“Michael, of course. The businessman is the same as Matheus Pereira. Of course there was a survey on both sides. Cruzeiro is now seen as a good payer. Everyone wants to come here. Michaelwanted. But these are values that deviate from Cruzeiro’s current reality. Who knows, in the future Cruzeiro will have more balance, debts paid and then we can think”, said Alexandre Mattos.
After agreeing his termination with Al Hilal, from Saudi Arabia, Michael was announced by Flamengo on August 22nd. Although Cruzeiro was one of the teams that strengthened the most in the mid-year transfer window, with seven players signed, Alexandre Mattos asked fans for patience and spoke about the club's debt.
“Fans need to understand that. We know what we need, of course we do. We are there every day. Of course we know the positions we lack. But you can't do everything at once. There’s no way”, he said.
“Let’s remember that we have just over R$1 billion in debt to be paid. Last month, Pedrinho had to put up R$35 million due to judicial recovery. R$35 million. It's not that we're just doing football. We have to organize the Cruise. It started with Ronaldo and we need to finish it. There is a period of judicial recovery in which Cruzeiro has to invest money”, added Mattos.
