|
0With the end of the Libertadores group stage, it's time to plan the matches for the knockout stage of the competition, before the draw that will take place next Monday (3), at 1 pm (Brasília time), at CONMEBOL headquarters, in Luque (PAR). At this stage, the classic model of a knockout tournament applies: whoever loses, goes home and leaves the dream for later. Everything that Flamengo wants to leave alive for the time of continental decisions.
And Tite's team scored 10 points in 6 games in the competition, being the second in Group E, with the presence of Bolívar (BOL ), who was the leader of the group, Palestino (CHI) and Millonarios (COL). And Flamengo fans are already planning the knockout stage so they can think about arriving on November 30th in the city of Buenos Aires (ARG), in a stadium that CONMEBOL chose to define closer to the definition of the classifieds.
As they are one of the runners-up in the group, Flamengo does not have the right to decide the round of 16 duel as home team, at their Maracanã or in another stadium, against any of the top eight placed in this stage, having to travel to the return duel.
In the round of 16, the team can face: Palmeiras, Fluminense, Atlético-MG, São Paulo, River Plate, Bolívar (BOL), Junior (COL), and the first place in group C , in a dispute between The Strongest (BOL), Huachipato (CHI) and Grêmio, in which only the Bolivian team has a guaranteed place in the round of 16.
From this stage onwards, even with In the knockout stages, the match scores do not add up, as only the score in the group stage counts. In the draw, there are no restrictions, neither for national clashes nor for teams from the same group, which does not prevent a new duel against Bolívar.
Which means that from the quarter-finals onwards , with this current score and the 11th best campaign, Mengão can decide as home team only against 4 of the 15 possible opponents along the way to Buenos Aires.
Flamengo decides at home against:
Nacional (URU)
Botafogo
San Lorenzo (ARG)
Colo-Colo (CHI)
Huachipato (CHI)*
Grêmio*
Flamengo decides away against:
Palmeiras
River Plate (ARG)
Atlético-MG

The result was crucial to reduce the gap to the leader

0The 28th round of the Brazilian Championship ended with an important victory for Mais Querido. Last Sunday (29), Flamengo beat Athletico-PR 1-0 at Maracanã, ensuring their stay in the G-4 of the competition. The result was crucial in reducing the gap to the leader, Botafogo, which is now nine points. It is worth remembering that Mengão still has one game less, which could shorten the distance even further.
Playing at home, Rubro-Negro from Rio was superior on the field and carried out most of the offensive plays during the match. However, the winning goal only came 44 minutes into the second half, with Gerson, guaranteeing the three points for CRF. The triumph was essential for the team to remain among the top four in the table.
After winning the 28th round, Mengão now turns his attention to his next commitment in the Brazilian Championship. The team will face Bahia next Saturday (05), at 7pm (Brasília time), at Arena Fonte Nova, for the 29th round of the competition. The match will be another test for the team to maintain the rhythm and continue in the fight for the title.
With the victory over Athletico-PR, the Flamengo added three more points to its Brasileirão campaign. So far, the team has 14 wins, six draws and seven defeats, with 43 goals scored and 32 conceded. The team's regularity has been essential to remain in the fight for the top positions in the tournament.
Before returning to focusing on the Brasileirão, Rubro-Negro has an important mission for the Copa do Brasil. Next Wednesday (02), Flamengo will face Corinthians at Maracanã, in the first match of the competition's semi-finals. The team led by Tite is looking for a good result at home, as the decision to place in the final will be in São Paulo.
The fans present booed the Mais Querido coach a lot

0Despite Mais Querido's victory over Athletico-PR, coach Tite did not escape harsh criticism from the fans at Maracanã. The fans' dissatisfaction, especially after the elimination in the Libertadores, was evident with boos and insults both upon the coach's arrival and departure from the stadium.
The team's irregular performance this season also contributed to the discontent of the Red and Blacks, who demanded more results and better performances.
During the post-game press conference, Tite commented on the protests from the fans, demonstrating understanding in the face of criticism. "I understand the demonstrations and the fans' love for the club. I seek to bring this maturity to the athletes so that they have the capacity to resist, resilience, to try as happened. That's why we deserve the score", declared the coach.
The pressure on Mengão increased last Thursday, when the team was eliminated from the Libertadores after draw at home with Peñarol. This result increased criticism of Tite's work and further shook the atmosphere at the club. Furthermore, the irregular performance in the Brazilian Championship, which removed the team from contention for the title, raised the tone of the fans' protests.
At the reunion with the fans, last Sunday, the frustration was evident. Even after the victory over Athletico-PR, chants of protest and dissatisfaction echoed in the stands, demonstrating that the climate of demand remains strong.
During the press conference, a journalist read a letter from an anonymous fan who questioned the coach about responsibility for the team's problems. Tite, in response, highlighted his commitment to work and dignity in the position. "I try to do my best, maybe I won't be the coach of your dreams. But the work and dignity you can be sure will always be there. Respect for you, the athletes and the entity will always be there", said the coach, showing confidence in leading the team.

0Flamengo was eliminated from the Libertadores last Thursday (26), when they only had a goalless draw with Peñarol, but lost on aggregate. In this way, Mais Querido joined Palmeiras and broke a historic sequence. This is because, for the first time since 2017, none of the clubs are in the semi-finals of the competition.
With the draw with Peñarol, Mais Querido was eliminated in the quarter-finals, after losing 1 to 0 in the first match. On the other hand, Palmeiras fell to Botafogo in the round of 16, 4-3 on aggregate.
In this seven-year period, Rubro-Negro was a triple finalist in the Libertadores, winning two titles (2019 and 2022). In the current edition, Mais Querido reached the quarterfinals and fell to the round of 16 in three others. Palmeiras reached two decisions and won both (2020 and 2021). Furthermore, the alviverde team stopped in the semi-finals three times.
Eliminated from the Libertadores, Flamengo will only have two competitions to focus on: Copa of Brazil and Brasileirão. In the national knockout round, Rubro-Negro faces Corinthians in the semi-final. In the points competition, Flamengo needs to win again to get out of fourth place.
Flamengo and Athletico-PR meet face this Sunday (29), at 8pm, at Maracanã. The clash will be valid for the 28th round of the Brasileirão and around 20 thousand tickets have already been sold. The match will be broadcast live on Premiere.
