O Flamengo officially presented this Monday (30) the new football director of club, José Boto. The Portuguese will be responsible for commanding the professional divisions and also the youth categories of Mais Querido. In a press conference at Ninho do Urubu, Boto stated that he always 'immerses himself' in working with the player training division and that it is necessary to implement the red-black DNA even in the athletes' growth process.
“We have to look for this DNA. We have to create talented players and at the same time responsible. I know a lot of Brazilian players since I was at Shakhtar. I came here to hire athletes who didn't even compete in Series A (of the Brasileirão) and a few months later were playing in the Champions League”, said the new football director of Flamengo.
Despite the praising the players, José Boto criticized the work that has been done in the youth categories in Brazil. For the director, Brazilian football brought what was bad in the training of athletes from Europe and has been removing what was good within its own territory, the innate talent of Brazilians with the ball.
“I have an idea that Brazil looked for a lot of bad things that are done in Europe and there came to look for good things that you (Brazilians) did at the base. Brazil is the largest producer of talent in the world. Romário, Ronaldinho, Zico… and now they want to make players like in Europe. This is a mistake. We have to go back a little to what were the roots and foundations of Brazilian football. Athletes have to be given the freedom to make mistakes, experiment, not stick to tactics, there will be time for that at a certain point, you don't produce as much talent as you did 10, 15, 30 years ago", < a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2knV40T0Bw4" target="_blank">criticized the director. rgb(197, 0, 24);">
At 58 years old, José Boto arrives at Flamengo to live the biggest challenge of his career. The director will have the mission of promoting a reformulation in football from the youth level to the professional level and wants to convey to the players in training that there will be space to develop their talent, in addition to learning to behave tactically
