Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim revealed that he will fulfill an old promise regarding the possible new stadium, last Thursday. According to him, if the red-black club's new home really gets off the ground, it will have two sectors without seats, one behind each goal. The club's current president stated that he is inspired by the "general" of other arenas around the world, such as that of Signal Iduna Park, owned by Borussia Dortmund (ALE).
For Flamengo, which has its history absolutely linked to Maracanã, the "general" has great symbolism. In the old days of the stadium, the popular sector, without seats and located on the edge of the field, marked an era in Rio's football. Nowadays, the grandstand style has taken on new formats, but can still be seen in several arenas around the world, mainly in Germany.
Signal Iduna Park is a reference to modernism, without abandoning the "root" of the stands. Borussia Dortmund's home ground is known worldwide for the "yellow wall" sector, which is behind one of the goals. There is no separation into upper and lower stands, and the space has no chairs, which benefits the cauldron aesthetic. The yellow wall sector model is the most requested among Flamengo fans, for their possible new stadium. In addition to the proximity of the stands to the field, the size of the space allocated for the most ardent fans is one of the factors that pleases not only the red and black fans, but also the club's management.
Home of the main team from Germany, Bayern Munich, the Allianz Arena was opened in 2005. Even though it is a recent construction and has an aesthetic very similar to the most modern arenas in the world, the place has a reserved space without chairs. It is behind one of the goals, in the so-called southern sector of the stadium.
Despite some flamengo fans not being pleased with the modern aesthetic presented, the Allianz Arena is seen as one of the references of the red-black board, for the construction of its new stadium. The sector where organized Bayern fans are is not that big, compared to Signal Iduna Park, as it only occupies the lower ring of the three that are present behind one of the goals. However, the proximity of the stands to the field is seen as a positive factor.
The Neo Química Arena, formerly the Corinthians Arena, was opened in 2014 for the World Cup in Brazil. After the end of the World Cup, the chairs in one of the sectors behind the goal were removed. One of the most modern stadiums in Brazil, the home of the São Paulo club manages to create a "cauldron" aesthetic due to the popular space. In addition to the non-seat sector of the arena not being separated by a lower and upper ring, its proximity to the field creates a favorable environment for the home team. Large, spacious and eye-catching, the place where Corinthians' organized fans are located has already witnessed several parties and is one of the differences of the club's stadium.
The MRV Arena, the most recent in Brazil, opened in 2023, tried bring a modern stadium aesthetic. However, the project always envisaged a popular sector without chairs. The same is intended for the main organized fans of Atlético-MG. The space is behind one of the goals, only in the lower ring. Although the sector without chairs is not considered large and spacious, its proximity to the field gives it a "cauldron" aesthetic. The place was designed to house not only Atlético-MG's most ardent fans, but also the mast flags, horizontal and vertical banners and flags of the club's organization.

In an interview with the Zona Rubro-Negra channel, the former number 10 of Mais Querido reveals that he is satisfied with his life outside the pitch and his distant dream
|
Since retiring from the pitch in 2022, Diego Ribas has been exploring new avenues outside the pitch. The former midfielder, who made his mark with Flamengo, assured in a recent interview with the Zona Rubro-Negra channel that he has no plans to take on a coaching role at the moment. Despite maintaining his connection with football, he made it clear that he is satisfied with the current direction of his career.
I'm very proud of Filipe..." - said Diego Ribas
“Maybe one day, but not now. I love football, I like the leadership and people management aspects, but I’m happy with what I do today. I work as a mentor, I give lectures, I’m an entrepreneur. This has fulfilled me,” said the former player, who ended his career as a professional athlete wearing the red-and-black jersey.
During the conversation, Diego also commented on the beginning of Filipe Luís's career as the coach of Mais Querido. A long-time teammate, who has worked together at Atlético de Madrid and the Gávea club, Diego did not hold back on positive words for his friend . “I am very proud of Filipe . He is exceeding all expectations. We already knew he had everything to be a great coach, but what he is showing now is enchanting”, highlighted the former number 10, reinforcing his confidence in the team's new commander.
Even without thinking about following in Filipe Luís 's footsteps on the bench, Diego continues to closely follow the world of football. His focus is now more on developing people and working off the field, in roles as a mentor and speaker, which keeps him connected to the essence of the sport.
Diego emphasized that he prefers, at this moment, to contribute indirectly to football, encouraging other professionals and sharing his experience on and off the pitch. “The passion is still there, it just changed its format” , he summarized. Diego Ribas arrived at Flamengo in 2016 and was an important player in one of the most successful phases in the club’s recent history. He spent seven seasons wearing the red-and-black jersey, accumulating titles, prominence and identification with the fans.
The coach had reached an agreement with the São Paulo club, but the demand for a monthly salary of R$3 million caused discomfort and stalled the talks
|
Corinthians is having difficulty in signing a new coach after the departure of Ramon Díaz. The club's board of directors even reached an agreement with Dorival Júnior, the current coach of Flamengo, but the talks turned sour after a turnaround in negotiations. The salary request, considered high, ruled out the possibility of a positive outcome in the short term.
According to information released by the portal "Meu Timão", Dorival's staff requested an amount of around R$3 million per month to sign with the São Paulo club. The request negatively surprised the directors , especially president Augusto Melo, who was reportedly irritated by the sudden change of scenery.
The amount considered outside the club's current reality caused discomfort behind the scenes. The club's board believed that the deal with Dorival was close and did not expect such a drastic turnaround in financial terms. The situation took those involved in the negotiation by surprise and may have buried, at least for now, the possibility of the coach returning to Parque São Jorge.
With the impasse in talks with Dorival, Corinthians is already evaluating other possibilities for the coaching position. One of the names that is gaining traction internally is that of Portuguese Luís Castro , who had a good recent stint at Botafogo and is currently at Al-Nassr, in Saudi Arabia. Augusto Melo's preference for Luís Castro is nothing new.
The Corinthians president has previously expressed his admiration for the work of the Portuguese coach. However, his contractual situation in Saudi football and bureaucratic issues involving a possible release are the main obstacles to a faster progress in the negotiations. While Corinthians tries to resolve the uncertainty in the technical command, the team needs to keep its focus on the Brasileirão.
During their participation on Romário's channel, the pair of commentators highlighted the Uruguayan's performance and named favorites for national and continental conquests

The most recent edition of Romário's YouTube program,"Romário TV" , brought together big names in sports communication and sparked debates that quickly spread across social media. Galvão Bueno and Craque Neto, the guests at the time, elected Giorgian De Arrascaeta as the best number 10 currently playing in Brazilian football, beating names such as Alan Patrick, from Internacional, and Memphis Depay, who plays for Corinthians.
The best player active in Brazil today” - said Galvão Bueno
POPULAR VOTE AFFECTS GUESTS' OPINIONS
During the event, an interactive poll was held with the audience, using a QR Code to vote on who, in the crowd's opinion, would be the most influential number 10 on the field . Arrascaeta led most of the voting, but in the final minutes, the Dutch striker from Corinthians managed to turn the game around. Even so, among the guests, the Uruguayan from Mengão came out on top.
NETO DOESN'T SPARRY IN PRAISE FOR MENGÃO'S NUMBER 10
When asked by Galvão who he would choose, Neto was direct: “Arrascaeta, for sure. And not only as the best number 10, but the best player currently playing in Brazil.” The opinion was shared by Galvão, who did not hide his admiration for the red-and-black midfielder. The Uruguayan's technical impact and consistency were highlighted by both, reinforcing his importance to the team and to Brazilian football.
Another highlight of the participation was when Romário asked Galvão to name the favorites to win the Brasileirão and the Libertadores next season. The narrator chose to list four clubs in the national competition: Flamengo, Palmeiras, Internacional and Botafogo, although he had some doubts about the consistency of the Rio team.
In his analysis of the Libertadores, Galvão kept two names that he also considered favorites for the Brasileirão: Flamengo and Palmeiras. The commentator completed his list with São Paulo and River Plate, recognizing the tradition and importance of the Argentine club in South American competitions. “You can't take River out of the fight,” he said.
