Last Tuesday (23), Flamengo beat Goiás in the under-17 Brasileirão. Scorer of one of the winning goals, striker João Camargo highlighted the importance of the triumph for the continuation of Mais Querido and recalled the Copa Rio title under the command of Filipe Luís.

"Very happy with my participation, but what It's really worth our victory and getting the three points was fundamental for us. It was a difficult match, where we came up behind the score but we managed to turn the match around, we didn't stop looking for the result at any point and we were happy in the second half", he said. Camargo.

"I've been working hard, always looking for my evolution. I believe I've had a good season, like our entire team, we won the Copa Rio. Very happy with everything I've experienced here at Flamengo in 2024 and I hope to experience many special moments here at the club", he concluded.


The young striker has been one of Mais Querido's biggest highlights this season. Camargo gained a starting role in the Rubro-Negro under-17 team during the Copa Rio and finished as third top scorer in the competition with seven goals. For the Brasileirão, the number 9 found the net on more than three occasions.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT GAME

The Mais Querido returns to the field for the under-17 Brasileirão next Tuesday (30), when he travels to face Santos. Rubro-Negro is in fifth place on the leaderboard, with six points. The São Paulo team appears with nine and is the vice-leader.

Flamengo defeated Botafogo 2-1 in a match valid for the 19th round of the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The clash, held this Wednesday, July 24th, featured young Lorran, who scored one of the goals of the red-black comeback.

FIRST HALF BUSY

The first half was marked by an intense and disputed game. Early on, Fabiano opened the scoring for Botafogo in a quick counterattack. From then on, the opponent adopted a more defensive posture, making Flamengo's attacks difficult. The Gávea team tried to react with Shola and Lorran, but found it difficult to overcome the rival defense and goalkeeper Cristiano Júnior.

Despite being set back, Botafogo did not fail to create opportunities and forced goalkeeper Dyogo Alves to make good defenses. The first half of the game ended with the score in favor of the black and white team.



SECOND HALF: FLAMENGO'S TURNOVER

After the break, Flamengo returned more organized and determined. Coach Filipe Luís adjusted the strategy, focusing on Lorran's offensive plays. In the 9th minute, the young striker started at speed, dribbled past two markers and finished with precision, tying the game.

Flamengo continued to press and, in a rehearsed move, Zé Welinton scored the turning goal. The full-back executed a perfect free kick, sending the ball into the left corner of the opponent's goal, repeating the feat from the last meeting between the teams.


LOOKS ATTENTIONS OF THE U-20 SELECTION

Lorran's outstanding performance caught the attention of the coach of the Brazilian U-20 team, Ramon Menezes, who was present at the stadium. Lorran, who had already been called up to the national team, should continue to be one of Menezes' bets. Another player who has also been on the coach's list is midfielder Rayan Lucas.


CLASSIFICATION AND NEXT STEPS

With the victory, Flamengo reaches 23 points and remains in seventh place in the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. The team guarantees a place in the classification zone (G8) and is now hoping for Santos and Ceará to stumble to climb the table.

This Monday (15), Tricolor das Laranjeiras presented Jorge Amorim, 17 years old, who was signed by Flamengo in November 2023. The striker, who is from Nova Iguaçu, signed a loan contract until the middle of 2025, similar to Mengão. Filipe Luís led the group of young champions of the Copa Rio U17 this year. He is already part of the team coached by Felipe Canavan and has the opportunity to make his debut in this Tuesday's game (16/07), against São Paulo, in the third round of the Under-17 Brasileirão. The Marcelo Portugal Stadium in Cotia (SP) is where the ball rolls at 4pm.
