Monday night (18) was marked by a debate between the presidential candidates of Flamengo, broadcast on ESPN. The candidates Rodrigo Dunshee, supported by Rodolfo Landim, Luiz Eduardo Baptista (Bap), with Tostes and Pracownik, and Maurício Gomes de Mattos (MGM), supported by Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, discussed various topics, including the situation of the partners off-Rio.
Off-Rio partners on the agenda
Maurício Gomes de Mattos, whose ticket has as one of its main flags the off-Rio partners, does not managed to address the topic during the debate. On the other hand, Bap received the question on the subject due to the draw and took the opportunity to criticize the club's old Statutes, mentioning the impossibility of remote voting as a point of delay.
“This electoral process is being defined statutorily as the club's deliberative council seeks progress. The Flamengo Statute is old, 32 years. It comes from a time when there was no internet, there was nothing. And it has been the intention for some time to allow remote voting, remote access for some people in the sessions”, he begins.
Bap also pointed out that the current management did not make any progress in changes to the Statute that would allow greater inclusion of off-Rio partners in the electoral process, maintaining limitations for those far from Rio de Janeiro.
“No Flamengo, this did not happen in a deeper way, because this club's board of directors did not want to work against these developments every other day. For a long time, any statutory change, any evolution was systematically blocked, shelved and worked against. Technology allows it. Anyone who is a member and lives abroad should be able to vote”, he says.
Controversy over the election date
MGM had already shown dissatisfaction with the choice of election date, scheduled for a Monday, December 9th. According to him, the decision makes it difficult for off-Rio partners to participate, harming his candidacy, given his previous work as former deputy of Consulates and Embassies, which strengthened his relationship with this base.
Bap, in turn, tried to justify the choice, arguing that Mondays see a greater presence of members near the headquarters da Gávea, which would justify the date.
“The choice was made, from what I heard, by the electoral commission, that, historically , the presence, although it seems counterintuitive, is greater on Monday than on the weekend. Why? Because most of the club members are in the vicinity of the club. So, it’s a much more physical issue of the club’s reality than a ban on those who live far away”, he concludes.
Difference in the treatment of partners
During his speech, Rodrigo Dunshee mentioned, unintentionally, a differentiation between partners residing in Rio de Janeiro and those off-Rio. He highlighted that State partners can be harmed when Flamengo plays outside of Rio, but recognized that red and black members from other regions are currently even more excluded.
“It is essential that Flamengo plays some games in the State Championship without harming our Supporter Membership program, because the Fan Member buys the games we host. If we leave, we harm those games that were purchased, and the Fan Member loses that game. We have to always be looking at how we can compensate our Fan Member, but serve our partner outside of Rio”, he begins.
Dunshee also defended the expansion of the Consulates and Embassies program, seeking to create a sense of belongingfor those off-Rio, and admitted that this part of the fans is undervalued at the moment.
“Right now, we have the plan to go to Fortalezaand have a party cool there with the local Ceará fan. It's very important. Flamengo is traveling, Flamengo has its fans close to them, having parties, events, games. During my management, I am expanding the Consulates and Embassies program, which is a program that exactly brings belonging to this partner who is outside of Rio de Janeiro”, he continues.
Proposal for regional boards
To better integrate off-Rio partners, Dunshee proposed the creation of regional boards, with representatives in different parts of the country to meet the needs and demands of this group. The idea aims to strengthen the relationship between Flamengo and its fans spread across Brazil.
“I am setting up regional boards, because the vice-president is here in Rio de Janeiro, and he is very far away. I'm creating regional boards, placing a regional director in each region of Brazil to be even closer to the fans. Therefore, our commitment is to increasingly expand the program of consulates and embassies with these directors, and to increasingly travel to the Campeonato Carioca to be close to these fans”, he concludes.

The goalkeeper is one of the highlights of Mengão's season and his solid performances have brought significant results for the year and reinforced the club's confidence.

One of the great merits of Filipe Luís's work at Flamengo's helm is its defensive solidity . Under his leadership, the team has not been defeated this season, and Rossi is largely responsible for this. The Argentine goalkeeper is having a consistent year , with decisive performances and an impressive streak of clean sheets.
According to a survey released by the club this Tuesday (7), Rossi reached seven consecutive games without conceding goals in 2025 and established himself as the athlete with the most matches in the season, totaling 51 appearances so far.
The term "clean sheet" originated in the Premier League and is used to define when a goalkeeper finishes a match without conceding a goal , and Rossi has already achieved this feat in 29 of his 51 matches this year for the "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved). The only performance in which the number 1 conceded more goals was against Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup in June. On that occasion, Flamengo lost 4-2 in the round of 16 of the competition.
With Rossi on a high and a mainstay in the squad, Flamengo returns to the field on October 15th to face Botafogo at 7:30 pm (Brasília time) at Nilton Santos Stadium for the 28th round of the Brasileirão. The match will be broadcast on Premiere (pay-per-view), Record TV (open channel) and Cazé TV (YouTube).
Teams exchange new statements about Libra and the President of Mengão reveals the club's "clear agenda"; the director responds to criticism by defending the management

The tension between Flamengo and Palmeiras has heated up again after new statements involving the political dispute in Libra, the league that brings together Brazilian football clubs. During a meeting of the Deliberative Council on Tuesday night (7), Flamengo president Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, presented to the councilors data on the impasse with the entity and accused the group of disrespecting internal rules in the division of television revenues.
In addition to questioning the criteria adopted by Libra, the director took advantage of the meeting to provoke Leila Pereira, president of Palmeiras , citing an R$80 million loan from Crefisa, the company she owns, to Vasco da Gama's SAF.
" I have no doubt that there is a very clear agenda. The company she presides over lent money to Vasco's SAF . This needs to be questioned, especially when it comes to Financial Fair Play," Bap said, according to the UOL portal.
The day after her statements, Leila Pereira publicly responded to the provocations. The president of the São Paulo club stated that she works to strengthen national soccer and emphasized that she always honors signed contracts, including those prior to her tenure.
"President Bap is right when he says I have a clear agenda. Everyone knows that I defend Palmeiras' interests without trying to stifle my opponents, and that I work hard for the growth of Brazilian football," Leila declared in an official statement.
The executive also mocked comments about a possible purchase of Vasco, denying any involvement with the Rio de Janeiro club. "He can rest assured. I'm not buying Vasco. In fact, I'm not buying Vasco or Netflix ," the businesswoman added mockingly.
The disagreement between Flamengo and Libra has been intensifying in recent weeks. The Rio de Janeiro club alleges irregularities in the approval of financial and administrative agendas within the entity, including alleged errors in assemblies and improper transfers. The case is likely to be taken to court, which could delay a potential agreement and increase political tension between the clubs.
