Eduardo Paes confirmed his favoritism and was re-elected mayorof Rio de Janeiro with a victory in the first round with 60% of the votes. On the way to the election, one of the politician's main campaign platforms was to strengthen relations with the boards of the four main clubs in the city.

With " pendants" for grandiose projects, he has helped Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco da Gama and also some smaller associations, such as Portuguesa and Campo Grande.

Paved the way for the renovation of São Januário

The first club to benefit from Eduardo Paes b> it was Vasco da Gama, his favorite team and of which he is a fanatical fan. The mayor approved the construction potential of São Januário, an instrument that will generate resources for Cruzmaltino to enable the renovation and modernization of the stadium for almost 50 thousand people. The proposal has already been endorsed by the City Council and the idea is to start work at the beginning of 2025.

Expropriated land for Flamengo

Subsequently, Paes played a fundamental role in making Flamengo's dream stadium viable. Themayor expropriated the land of the Gasometer, which belongs to Caixa Econômica Federal, and which is located in the central region of Rio.

Rubro-Negro acquired the site at an auction in July. At the time, the club sold for around R$138 million, an amount that was initially contested by Caixa. After going back and forth in court, the parties reached an agreement. The truce was made at the Federal Public Administration Mediation and Conciliation Chamber (CCAF).

Transferred concession from Nilton Santos

In August, Paes reached an agreement with Botafogo and signed the exchange of concession for Nilton Santos. The administration of the stadium passed from the social club to the SAF. The claim was a claim from John Textor, owner of Sociedade Anônima alvinegra.

There are also conversations about the possibility of removing the Nilton Santos athletics track. Botafogo's idea is to bring the stands closer to the field. The mayor, in turn, says, in return, that the track needs to be relocated to another space, as it is the only one in Olympic conditions in the city. Two possibilities are being studied: transferring it to the Olympic Park or building a new arena for the sport.

O < b>mayor also negotiates the transfer of land for the construction of a new Botafogo CT. The current one, in Vargem Pequena, in the West Zone (RJ), is rented. There is, however, an imbroglio so far on this matter. The mayor claims that he can only give land to the social club, and not to the SAF, as Textor wishes.

Constructive potential for Fluminense

Eduardo Paes also has conversations with Fluminense. The idea is to grant constructive potential to the Laranjeiras headquarters, along the lines of what was done with Vasco. Tricolor still does not have a defined project if this happens. There is, however, a possibility that the stadium will be renovated to host small games.
