Flamengo convened the deliberative Council for a meeting next Monday (07). The meeting will be in order to authorize the sale of the apartments that the club owns in Morro da Viúva, Rio de Janeiro.

O Mais Querido valued the properties at R$165 millions. The assessment can be found in the balance sheet for the first half of 2023, which was released this Monday (31). There are 46 apartments in Condomínio Rio By Yoo, on Avenida Rui Barbosa. They constitute part of the payment for the concession of the land to the entrepreneur Cyrela. In 2018, the company paid BRL 26 million for the land plus the apartments.
In the call, the club did not clarify whether it will sell all the apartments or what the value of the operation will be. However, the directors will vote, if the sale is approved, Mais Querido will acquire land next to Ninho do Urubu to expand the TC.

If the sale of the apartments goes through, it will be another step for Flamengo to surpass the revenue record in Brazilian football. That's because on the same balance sheet, the club showed that revenue grew by 33% in the first half and reached R$ 582 million. The amount exceeds the total collection of 16 Serie A clubs in 2022. The expectation is that Mais Querido will raise more than R$ 1 billion for the third consecutive year.

The duel between Flamengo and Grêmio this Sunday (31) , valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship, ended in a 1-1 draw at Maracanã. Mais Querido opened the scoring at the beginning of the second half with Arrascaeta, but saw goalkeeper Tiago Volpi convert a penalty and leave everything equal in the final stretch of the match.

The first half was marked by Flamengo 's control, maintaining possession but struggling to overcome Mano Menezes's tight marking. Pedro and Léo Pereira's key chances came from moves that forced Volpi into crucial saves and Noriega into a clearance on the line. For Grêmio, counterattacks were ineffective, and Rossi barely played in the first 45 minutes.

ARRASCAETA OPENS THE SCORING WITH A FAST PLAY

Just seven minutes into the second half, Mengão managed to convert the pressure into a goal . After a quick exchange of passes, Arrascaeta exchanged passes with Pedro and shot low, leaving Volpi with no chance, sending the red-and-black fans into an eruption in the stands.

However, the balance returned in the 37th minute. Pavón attempted a cross from the right, but the ball deflected off Ayrton Lucas's hand inside the box . The referee awarded the penalty, which goalkeeper Tiago Volpi skillfully converted: the ball went into one corner, Rossi into the other.

FLAMENGO INSISTS ON SEARCHING FOR VICTORY

After the equalizer, Flamengo launched an attack. Bruno Henrique and Emerson Royal came on to provide some breathing room, but their attempts were thwarted by the Gaucho team's marking and Volpi's solid defense . With the result, Flamengo remains in the lead, but its lead in the standings is under pressure.

Full-back Alex Sandro, with a calf injury, and midfielder Jorginho, with muscle pain, are also doubtful for the next match.

The red-and-black squad will have a two-week break due to the FIFA World Cup. The Brazilian national team will play the last two rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers : Chile on September 4th and Bolivia on the 9th.
