The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) is evaluating the possibility of reduce the number of dates available for State Championships from next season onwards. According to journalist Igor Siqueira, from “UOL”, this measure aims to optimize the Brazilian football calendar, meeting the demands of clubs that participate in various competitions throughout the year.

The president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues, recognized that, for this change to occur, an agreement between clubs and state federations will be necessary. Currently, championships in states such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul still operate with 16 games per team, while other states have already adopted a calendar with 12 dates.

FLAMENGO ABRE O EY

"The proposal to reduce to 12 dates can be implemented if there is consensus between clubs and federations. Today, three federations still hold championships with 16 dates: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul. The others already do with 12 dates. This does not depend directly on the CBF, as the clubs are affiliated to the federations and can discuss their championships", explained Ednaldo Rodrigues.

To discuss this issue, the National Club Commission (CNC) agreed. will meet with CBF on the 22nd. The CNC is made up of nine clubs, five of which are from Series A: Atlético-GO, Fluminense, Fortaleza, Internacional and São Paulo. The expectation is that this meeting will be essential to define the next steps in relation to the State Championships calendar.

The Grêmiorecently announced that it made adjustments to the Arena to increase the audience capacity in its next game against Flamengo. The changes come after an issue that had limited the number of fans in the stadium in previous matches. The restriction was related to the absence of new floodlights, which caused operational impediments to the entry of more public.

The measure is part of the club's ongoing effort to improve the fan experience and meet growing demand for tickets, especially in high-profile games, such as the match against Flamengo. In the last game held at the Arena, the audience limit was reduced for safety reasons, due to the lack of adequate lighting in specific areas of the stadium.

FLAMENGO HAS A "SPECIAL SCHEME"

The issue of inadequate lighting was identified by the security guards responsible for organizing the matches. Without the installation of new reflectors, some areas of the stadium would not receive the necessary light, which, according to those responsible for security, could compromise both the visibility of fans and the ability to evacuate in the event of an emergency. Therefore, it was necessary to restrict the number of tickets sold, in order to ensure that all those present could be accommodated safely.

The solution found was to adjust the structure of the Arena, which allowed a new configuration of lighting. With the floodlights properly installed, the stadium's full capacity was restored, allowing Grêmio to increase the offer of tickets for the duel against Flamengo. The expansion of the Arena's capacity for the game against Flamengois seen as fundamental for the club, which is expecting a record crowd for the match. With the improvement in lighting and the adjustments made, the stadium is able to receive more fans, which can generate greater revenue for Grêmio and provide an even more intense atmosphere in the stadium.
