Current coach of the Honduras National Team , Reinaldo Rueda was remembered by Rodrigo Caetano, former director of Flamengo. The coach had a stint at Mais Querido and caused outrage among fans in 2018 , when he made a "soap opera" about his permanence.

In an interview with "Charla Podcast", Rodrigo Caetano was asked about what actually happened in the renewal negotiations between Flamengo and Reinaldo Rueda , where Chile entered the fight to hire the coach. Thus, the former red-black director explained that he demanded a position from the coach on the case.

Rodrigo talks about the behind-the-scenes of the renewal with Rueda: "There was a situation where they said he was going to take over Chile. I held him accountable."

He continued: "I demanded and said ' Look, we need to have a definition if this is going to happen '. He, obviously, denied it until the end", said the current Cbf director.

RUEDA WAS SHAKEN BY HIS RUNNER-UPS IN 2017

According to Rodrigo Caetano, the former Flamengo coach called him to communicate his desire to meet with the club - a meeting in which he communicated his dismissal and the payment of his fine by the Chilean national team was resolved. According to the director, the coach was shaken by the runner-up positions in 2017.

"I think that those two consecutive runner-up positions, in the Copa do Brasil for Cruzeiro and in the Sul-Americana for Independiente, made him a little wary about the continuity and the level of tolerance he would have for the following year ," revealed Rodrigo.

FLAMENGO AFTER WHEEL

After Rueda's departure, Flamengo was unable to win any titles at that time. However, the following year, in 2019, the Mais Querido won the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship after the arrival of a new board and Jorge Jesus.
