Flamengo proposed a plan to the city hall to use the construction potential of its headquarters in Gávea to build the club's own stadium. The idea was presented by the red-black president, Rodolfo Landim, to the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, in a meeting last Thursday. It was an initial step.
The evaluation within the Flamengo is that Gávea can generate between R$440 million and R$510 million in construction potential. This value would be negotiated to generate resources for the construction of the stadium on the Gasometer site, in the center of Rio. It is possible that the negotiation will be with the real estate fund itself, managed by Caixa Econômica Federal, owner of the land.
The board of directors of the club negotiates with Caixa to purchase the area. There are disagreements regarding the value, which ranges between R$200 million and R$500 million, obviously, the bank wants more money, and Flamengo pays less. Releasing the construction potential could help unlock the conversation between the parties.
The model proposed by Flamengo is similar to the project carried out by Vasco with São Januário. The Cruzmaltino club has already had support from the city hall and now depends on approval by the City Council. It intends to raise R$500 million by reselling the potential and using it to renovate its stadium. There is a red-black idea of having equality in relation to Cruzmaltino.
In the red-negro case, Eduardo Paes was in favor of the idea presented by Landim and promised to support it . "It's land (former Gasometer) owned by Caixa. Flamengo will have to buy that land. I was with president (Rodolfo) Landim this week. We are modeling a financial operation that takes into account some of Flamengo's assets so that the people can come up with a solution for Flamengo and the city", said Paes, in an interview with Rádio Tupi.
The assets, in this case, are the constructive potential of Gávea. Currently, the headquarters already has 35 thousand square meters of built area. There is a project to build an additional 45,000 m2 in Nova Gávea.
With the intended potential, Flamengo calculates that there are 170 thousand m2 left. The price in the area, according to the club's estimate, is 2,600 to 3 thousand per square meter. In other words, the club could raise an amount between R$440 million and R$510 million.
Paes' support is just a first step in the project. Flamengo will now have to formalize a proposal that will generate studies by technicians from Rio's city hall. If the project is considered viable, it would be approved by the city hall and would go to the City Council for a subsequent vote.
Vasco is already in this last stage, and is talking to councilors to approve its project. The Cruzmaltino club has already prospected potential buyers in another area of the city in Barra.
Mengão has had a partnership with the supplier since 2013 and has a clause in the contract that could guarantee a large amount if the company closes with the black and white team.

A partner of Flamengo since 2013, Adidas has presented a proposal to become the new supplier of sports equipment for Corinthians . The million-dollar offer could directly impact the Rubro-Negro, since there are clauses in the contract with the Rio de Janeiro club that guarantee an automatic adjustment in the event of a more advantageous agreement with another team in the country.
According to reports, Adidas has agreed to pay Corinthians around R$1 billion over ten years, taking into account targets and bonuses. In practice, the amount would represent an average of R$100 million per season — a figure higher than the current contract with Flamengo . If the deal is closed, the Gávea club will be able to trigger the adjustment provided for in the contract.
Flamengo renewed its contract with Adidas in 2024. The agreement is valid until 2029 and guarantees a minimum revenue of R$44 million per year , paid in three installments. With bonuses for goals and achievements, this amount can reach up to R$90 million per year . The projected average is R$70 million per season.
In the proposal to Corinthians, Adidas proposed including the São Paulo club in its " elite " shelf, alongside giants such as Real Madrid , Bayern Munich , Manchester United and Juventus . Flamengo, on the other hand, is currently part of the " local elite " category, alongside Boca Juniors , River Plate , Roma , Newcastle and Aston Villa .
While the backstage is boiling, Flamengo focuses its attention on the decisive game this Thursday (15), against LDU (EQU), at 9:30 pm, at Maracanã, for the fifth round of the group stage of the Libertadores .
The partnership includes the supply of clothing for the podium, tours, travel and for the opening and closing ceremonies of the competitions.

Adidas has taken another important step in consolidating its brand in Brazilian sports. The German sports equipment giant was announced this Monday (12) as the new official supplier of uniforms for the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) , in a contract that will come into effect in 2026 and will run until the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028.
HOW IT WILL WORK
According to "UOL", the partnership includes the supply of clothing for the podium, tours, travel and for the opening and closing ceremonies of the competitions . The new uniform will debut at the Winter Olympics, which will take place in February 2026 , in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina.
Olympic and world champion, Flamengo gymnast Rebeca Andrade , is sponsored by the brand and was present at the event announcing the new agreement, Adidas Brand Day. The athlete celebrated the news with enthusiasm.
"I'm looking forward to using it, I want to see what the uniforms will be like. I can't wait to put them on. For me, it's very special, I've been with Adidas for a while. Being able to enjoy this; and not just me, but all the athletes too. It's really good. We're being seen, supported and believed in. It's impossible not to be happy about this," said Rebeca, in an interview with UOL.
"It means a lot. I wanted a big brand, the conversation started and there was a great synergy. We are going to make it happen together. It is a huge honor and I am sure it will be a long partnership" , he highlighted.
The choice of Adidas as the COB supplier also has a symbolic value: the company dressed the Brazilian delegation at the 1984 Games, held in Los Angeles, the same city that will host the 2028 Games.
The German company and the São Paulo team intensified talks for an agreement at the beginning of this season; The link could be greater than that of Rubro-Negro

Unhappy with Nike, Corinthians has been negotiating with Adidas to become its new sponsor of sports equipment. However, something that has drawn attention is the contract between the parties, which may exceed what the German company pays Flamengo.
According to information from GE, the proposal under discussion could yield up to R$1 billion for Corinthians over ten years, starting in 2026. The average value per season would be R$100 million, exceeding the agreement in force between Flamengo and Adidas.
Negotiations between Adidas and Corinthians began with the Augusto Melo administration and gained intensity this season. However, the São Paulo team maintains a relationship with Nike, its supplier since 2003, which was automatically renewed until 2029.
However, the relationship between Corinthians and Nike has not been the best. Behind the scenes, directors of the São Paulo club are discussing ways to break off or renegotiate the agreement with the company to make room for Adidas.
It is worth remembering that Flamengo and Adidas recently renewed the contract until 2029. The new link provides for a guaranteed minimum value of R$57 million per season, made up of R$44 million in minimum sales participation and R$13 million in bonuses.
However, Flamengo's marketing department, in the previous management, estimated that the real value could be much higher. Thus, if the target is reached, Rubro-Negro estimates to collect R$27 million in royalties, with the annual value of the contract reaching around R$101 million per season.
