Yesterday, in a post on social media, Flamengo's director of external relations, known as Cacau Cotta, announced his candidacy for Rio de Janeiro councilor in this year's elections. Cacau will be a candidate for the MDB. In the video in which he announces his candidacy, the leader has Washington and Rosenverg Reis as godparents, as well as vice-governor Thiago Pampolha. At the end of the recording, Cacau takes the opportunity to mention Flamengo's "red and black".
It doesn't hurt to remember that Rubro-negro already has a top hat in the Chamber of Rio councilors. Marcos Braz was one of the most voted in the 2020 elections. The vice-president of football should try, it seems, to be re-elected for the position too, this year. According to the newspaper O Globo, this news has already generated repercussions at the club, especially in relation to the VP.
Football deputy and also councilor for PL, Marcos Braz has been trying in recent weeks to deflate the possible competitor, according to sources from the board of directors to journalist Diogo Dantas. Among the internal actions, Braz “barred” Cacau from the trip to the Libertadores debut in Colombia and also to the draw for the competition, in Paraguay.
In Bogotá, the director was accompanied by director Bruno Spindel and Diogo Lemos, from the Football Council, at dinner with the management of Millionarios. The increasingly constant presence of the football vice president at meetings at the Rio Football Federation, where Cacau works, is also a symptom of the cold war. Braz made a point in meetings about arbitration throughout the State Championship.
The still veiled dispute has already reached President Rodolfo Landim, who does not want to take sides on either side, and is trying to calm tempers and count on support of both on the fronts on which they operate. The tendency, however, is for Cacau and Braz to compete for the votes of the red and black people on the streets of Rio at the end of the season, which also marks the election for president of Flamengo.
The Mais Querido will host the single match, which will define who will advance to the round of 16 of the knockout tournament, on August 6th

After finding out who their opponents will be in the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão , Flamengo decided this Tuesday (8) which team they will face in the third phase of the Women's Copa do Brasil: Operário-MS, in a single match for a place in the round of 16.
Therefore, the date for the match between Flamengo and Operário-MS will be August 6th, with Mais Querido playing at home. The draw for the matches defined who would be the home team of the match and, as it was drawn first, Mengo won the right to play at home. The dates may still be subject to adjustments by the CBF.
It is worth noting that Flamengo enters the competition in the third phase, where the 16 teams from the Brasileirão Feminino Series A enter the tournament and join the 16 teams that qualified from the second phase. Operário started in the first phase and advanced after beating Mixto-PB and Remo.
The Meninas da Gávea drew 1-1 with Grêmio last Wednesday (18), which was even lamented by striker Vitoria Almeida, in the women's Brasileirão. The Mais Querido remained in fifth place and will now face Palmeiras in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
The first game will be played at Flamengo 's home ground on August 10th at 10:30 am, with the stadium yet to be defined. The return leg is scheduled for the 17th at the same time at Arena Barueri. The games will be broadcast live on TV Globo, TV Brasil and SporTV.

With this result, Mengão remains in the lead of the State Championship. The competition calendar will continue on August 31, October 5 and November 16.

On Saturday night, the 21st, Flamengo's Social Responsibility department was notably recognized with the AIDEP Social Impact Award during the FutEdu Summit 2025. The ceremony took place at the Hard Rock Café, in Curitiba, and brought together representatives of clubs and institutions that work with sports and social impact in South America.
Organized by the International Association for the Development of Sports and Parasports - AIDEP, the award is a recognition given to clubs and institutions that use football as a tool for social transformation.
The award highlighted Flamengo's Social Responsibility work as a reference in promoting opportunities for children and teenagers from socially vulnerable contexts, combining football with socio-emotional education, such as Jogaremos Juntos, Flamengo's social project, which includes 1,000 children and teenagers in eight communities in Rio and Baixada Fluminense, as well as other social initiatives of the club that have already impacted more than 200,000 people.
“Welcoming Flamengo to the FutEdu Summit is an immense honor. A club with so much history and relevance in Brazilian football inspires and further strengthens our commitment to education through sport,” said Diogo Netto, CEO of the FutEdu Summit.
The main objective of the Award is to recognize, value and encourage football schools and social projects that use sport as a tool for innovation, education and social transformation. It promotes visibility, strengthens good practices and establishes a standard of excellence in the sports-educational sector.
