Kayo Gonçalves is FlaBasquete's newest reinforcement for next season. Born in Palhoça, Santa Catarina, the 25-year-old athlete was one of the highlights of Flamengo in the last Champions League Americas, where he played a crucial role in the competition.
Kayo arrived at Flamengo at a young age, standing out in the youth categories. After playing college basketball in the United States and Europe, he made his debut with Mais Querido's professional team in December last year. His entry was marked by the absence of his idol Olivinha, who was recovering from a dislocated shoulder. After two months of recovery, Olivinha returned, and Kayo was temporarily removed from the national squad due to the adult limit.
However, the pivot remained in the team for the Champions League Americas dispute, where he had one of the team's greatest performances in the tournament against Obras, from Argentina. Kayo scored 28 points with 100% shooting from the field in the first game of the BCLA quarterfinals, helping Flamengo reaching the continent's Final Four.
< p>MESSAGE FROM THE ATHLETE
Back at Flamengo permanently, Kayo Gonçalves sent a message to the red and black fans: "Nation, we are together this next season! Let's work hard hard, with a lot of desire, a lot of determination to bring titles and a lot of pride for you. You can count on me", said the pivot.
CAST CONFIRMED.
Kayo joins other reinforcements confirmed for next season, including Franco Balbi, Alexey Borges, Shaq Johnson, Gui Deodato, Jordan Williams and Jhonatan Luz. With these additions, FlaBasquete is preparing for a promising season full of challenges on the national and international scene.
