With the squad reformulated and suffering from injuries, Flamengo took a while to get into the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). After a troubled start, the team led by Gustavo de Conti has been raising the level of its performances, and by beating São Paulo this Thursday (7), it reached the same advantage as the leader Minas, which has the better in the direct confrontation. After the victory, Franco Balbi celebrated the team's evolution.
In an interview with Flamengo's official profile, the Argentine point guard celebrated the two consecutive victories against Paulistano and São Paulo, both away from home. According to Balbi, Pride of the Nation did a job well done, which serves as preparation for the Champions League Americas games.
“We are evolving a lot in our style of play, in our way of playing. I think they were two very important victories against teams that are doing very well in the championship.
Paulistano was in 5th, São Paulo was in eighth in the NBB, they are quality teams. We needed to do our job, we did it well, to return to Rio and prepare for the Champions League”, said Balbi.
In second place in the NBB with 10 wins and just two defeats, the team led by Franco Balbi is on a run of five consecutive victories, against Mogi, Bauru, Franca, Paulistano and São Paulo. It is worth remembering that the team is playing without Olivinha, who is in the DM, and Lucas Mariano, who is suspended and will only be able to play from February 2024.

The club has finalized the signing of 23-year-old Argentine Alex Negrete , one of the standout performers in the last season of the Argentine National League. A standout at Instituto de Córdoba, the player is expected to activate his release clause to join the Pride of the Nation.
The information was published by the Argentine newspaper La Voz, which revealed that the athlete's agent announced his departure shortly after the end of the national finals. Negrete finished the season averaging 13.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2 assists per game , shooting 53.2% from two-point range and 33.8% from three. He was the Instituto's top scorer and was named the tournament's Best Young Player and Most Improved Player.
