On Monday afternoon, Brazilian national team coach Fernando Diniz called up the team for commitments against Colombia (away from home, 11/16) and Argentina (at home, 11/21). After the call-up, Diniz, among several topics, spoke about Endrick's presence on the squad list and Paquetá's absence.

”In the case of Endrick, specifically, he is a player who has the potential to be one of those great talents. We don't know if it will be confirmed or not. The call-up is not pressure, it is a prize, and also a vision of what the future can be. A boy born in 2006 being able to produce what he has produced for a long time really catches my attention, and at this specific moment of the call-up he is experiencing his best moment playing against the big teams here in Brazil and managing to stand out. So, the summoning of Endrick and a few others points out a little of what the future could be. This note does not mean that it is a confirmation, confirmation will only come with time and depends on several factors so that there is this consolidation of these names going forward”, he said, before amending about Paquetá’s absence:

< “Paquetá is a player that I consider one of the best of this generation, I would be happy to call him up and he would probably have a great chance of fighting for the starting spot, because he is a player that I admire a lot. The investigation, at least what has come to us so far, is at the same point", he declared, and continued...

"It has not been closed, so there are no new facts. Because if I called you, you would probably ask me why I called and didn't call before. For now, they asked for more time to investigate. Obviously, if this time is extended further, the next call is in four months, so I think that would be enough time for something to arrive. But the desire to bring it in exists”, added Fernando Diniz.

It is worth remembering that the coach did not call up any athlete from Flamengo's current squad, not even Gerson, who was present in the coach's last call-up.

"Respect is the feeling..." Flamengo has Tite's words echoed behind the scenes with the fans

In an interview given after the defeat of Flamengoto Peñarol, 1-0, coach Tite was direct in responding to the boos received by the fans. The statement, marked by a frank tone, exposed the coach's pragmatic vision in relation to demanding fans and the pressure for results. “I respect the fans’ feelings. Of course I feel that (the boos), I'm human”, said Tite, recognizing the fans' frustration in the face of the setback.

Tite's speech reveals that he understands the role of fans as a fundamental part in the context of a club, especially in a team of great expression like Flamengo. By mentioning that the boos affect him as a human being, the coach demonstrates empathy, but does not fail to highlight that the only way to reverse this situation is with achievements on the field. “It can only be reversed in one way”, pointed out the coach.

THE MISTAKE THAT COSTED EXTREMELY DEARLY

The response reflects the experience of Titein dealing with pressure who follows the command of great teams in Brazilian football. With successful spells at clubs such as Corinthians, Grêmio and the Brazilian national team itself, the coach has a track record that puts him in a position to understand, perhaps like few others, the relationship between performance on the field and fans' expectations. For him, this connection is clear: “Do you know how to win fans? Do you know how I won over the fans of the other clubs I played for? Win an important title”, he declared.

The phrase highlights the centrality of titles in football, especially in mass clubs like Flamengo. In Brazil, the culture of results is intense, and Tite recognizes that fans have a limited tolerance for negative results. Winning titles, for him, is the key to gaining the support of the fans, and anything other than that results in discontent: “If not, bye.”

This last part of Tite's speech summarizes the characteristic impatience of demanding fans like Flamengo. The coach makes it clear that, without obtaining relevant trophies, the relationship with the fans deteriorates quickly. The pressure is constant and is part of the daily life of those who take on the leadership of top teams. Tite seems, however, to be aware of this scenario and how it needs to be faced.

Tite's statement came after a delicate moment for Flamengo. The defeat to Peñarol, at home, in a group stage match of the Copa Libertadores, raised alarm bells for fans and the coaching staff. Flamengo had high expectations for the season, especially after major reinforcements and the arrival of Tite, a coach with wide recognition on the national and international scene.

The pressure on Flamengo is nothing new. The club, which has one of the biggest fans in the world, is known for its high expectations for titles. The expensive squad, made up of renowned players, also increases this demand. Each stumble is widely covered by the media and amplifies the dissatisfaction of part of the fans, who demand immediate results.

CAN IT GO BAD AT THE MOMENT?

The Copa Libertadores, in particular, has a important meaning for Flamengo and its fans. The continental tournament is seen as one of the club's main objectives each season. Any result other than victory can generate dissatisfaction and pressure on the technical committee, as occurred after the setback against Peñarol.

In this context, Tite's speech not only recognizes the fans' dissatisfaction, but also is realistic in relation to what is expected from a club like Flamengo. The demand for titles is part of the package when taking over a club of this size, and the coach seems to be aware of this when he points out that he will only be able to win the support of the fans with significant victories.

João Gomes and Lucas Paquetá, two players trained in the youth categories of Flamengo, are currently integrated into the Brazilian National Team. Both athletes, known as "Crias do Ninho", have stood out in their respective trajectories in Europe, and now train together under the command of the national team's technical committee.

João Gomes, who acts as midfielder , is one of the promises that emerged at Flamengo and today defends Wolverhampton Wanderers, popularly known as Wolves, in the Premier League. Since his arrival in England, João Gomes has shown constant evolution, both technically and tactically, gaining space in the squad and the trust of coach Gary O'Neil. His marking ability, intensity on the field and reading of the game were characteristics that caught the attention of the Brazilian National Team's technical committee, resulting in his call-up.

THE CLUB HAS PASSAGES FOR THE SELECTION

Lucas Paquetá, in turn, already has a more established career in European football. After leaving Flamengo, he spent time at Milan, where he had a complicated adaptation, but soon found his football again at Lyon, in France. Currently, Paquetá is one of the main players at West Ham United, also in the Premier League, where he has established himself as the team's number 10. His creative style of play, ability to organize the midfield and skill in decisive plays made him a key player in both his club and the Brazilian national team.

Paquetá's call-up to the national team, where he also wearing the number 10 shirt, reinforces his importance in coach Fernando Diniz's scheme. Paquetá has been one of the most used players in Brazil's recent matches, and his presence on the field has been fundamental to the team's offensive construction. His rapport with other players in the team, especially with Neymar, is one of the strengths that the coaching staff intends to explore during the next games.
