“We wanted, on behalf of Flamengo, to make clear our indignation with what happened in the game against Palmeiras in terms of arbitration and other situations. Flamengo has already officially positioned itself a few times in the relationship with the CBF, with the arbitration commission, contesting some arbitration errors that were committed in Flamengo games. So to make it clear to everyone, this work is done to defend Flamengo's rights.”, began the official.
Spindel continued with a harsher criticism of the referee of the match. “A referee who is not prepared for a game of this size, to be under the kind of pressure he was under. Made unacceptable mistakes in the game. A penalty against Everton Ribeiro, with a charge on the back that is even the subject of CBF explanatory videos about what is wrong and what is not. It is unacceptable that the referee does not award a penalty as clear as this one, and even more so that the VAR does not review it”, he criticized.
In the end, Spindel ended by saying that he hopes that this does not happen again. “We hope that this does not happen again, both this type of scale at stake of this magnitude, and even in the context that occurred, with a member of the technical commission of Palmeiras questioning the suitability and fairness of the referees and the Arbitration Commission, and Palmeiras putting public pressure on arbitration.
