This Sunday (27), Flamengo returns to the courts to face Caxias do Sul in game 2 of the round of 16 of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB). The match will be played at the Tijuca Tênis Clube gymnasium, in Rio de Janeiro, starting at 11 am (Brasília time). With an advantage in the series after winning the first match, Mais Querido needs two more wins to guarantee a place in the quarterfinals of the competition, which adopts the "best of five" format.
Fans interested in watching the match have three broadcasting options: the SporTV channel, the Flamengo TV+ streaming platform and the NBB League Pass. While SporTV is a subscription channel available in pay TV packages, Flamengo TV+ and the NBB League Pass offer online services through subscription. The expectation is for a full house in Tijuca, reinforcing the support of the Red-Black Nation in search of another triumph.
In the first game of the series, played away from home, FlaBasquete completely dominated the opponent and won 98 to 52. The great collective performance was crowned with a highlight in the third quarter, in which Rubro-Negro allowed just two points to the team from Rio Grande do Sul.
Jhonatan Luz was the top scorer of the match, totaling 17 points and leading the team on the court. The positive result gave Mengão an important advantage to continue advancing in the championship.
With a solid campaign in the NBB 2025, totaling 27 wins and only eight losses so far , the red-black team is positioned as one of the favorites for the title. The regularity of the squad led by Gustavo de Conti has been a determining factor for the good results, and the expectation is that the team will maintain its dominant performance to consolidate its classification for the quarterfinals. Mais Querido is counting on the strength of the squad and the support of the fans to repeat the performance of game 1 and achieve another victory in the series against Caxias do Sul.

The Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) announced this week the list of athletes called up to compete in the Solidarity Cup, an international friendly tournament that will take place in China between July 24 and 31. Two Flamengo players, power forward Kayo Gonçalves and the recently signed Daniel Onwenu , are among those chosen to wear the Brazilian National Team jersey.
With five matches scheduled, the competition will serve as a platform for young talent and will provide training for athletes who could join the national squad in the cycle leading up to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Head coach Aleksandar Petrovic will not lead the team at this stage ; that role will be taken over by Rodrigo Carlos da Silva.
At 26, Kayo Gonçalves is a product of Flamengo's youth academy and returned to the club last season. Averaging 6.9 points and 4.1 rebounds, he played a key role in the BCLA and Copa Super 8 victories, earning a contract extension through the 2025/26 season.
Daniel Onwenu, 25, was recently announced as a new addition to the team. Having played for Paulistano, Corinthians, and the G-League—the NBA's development league—the winger brings physical and technical characteristics to Mengão that will bolster the team's offensive rotation for upcoming challenges.
According to the CBB , the Solidarity Cup aims to expand the range of options for the Olympic cycle. The competition will feature opponents such as New Zealand, Montenegro, and the Chinese team Guangdong. The fifth opponent is yet to be announced.

Flamengo announces the signing of experienced American power forward Markeith Cummings, 36, for the 2025/26 FlaBasquete season. After a stint in the Japanese B.League, the player arrives with a strong international resume and extensive experience.
Born in Alabama (USA) and a former Kennesaw State player, Cummings has played in several countries and leagues, including the United States, France, Japan and Angola, where he was champion of the Basketball Africa League in 2024 with Petro de Luanda.
Last season, he played for the Japanese team Shiga Lakestars , where he averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in 51 matches, being one of the top players in the league.
Recognized for his offensive versatility, creative ability and efficiency — with a 54.1% field goal percentage last season — Cummings arrives at Orgulho da Nação to reinforce the red-black team with his technical arsenal and international experience.
The power forward commented on his arrival at Flamengo and what he expects from the new season. I'm very excited; I've heard nothing but good things about the organization, and it's a pleasure to be a part of it," Cummings said.
Markeith Cummings joins Alexey Borges, Franco Baralle, Daniel Onwenu, Shaq Johnson, Gui Deodato, Jhonatan Luz, Kayo Gonçalves, Ruan Miranda and Wesley Castro as the names confirmed for the next season of red-black basketball.
