The possibility of implementing a Football Limited Society (SAF) in Flamengo became more difficult after a change approved yesterday in a vote in the Deliberative Council. The proposal, which received 272 votes in favor, 2 against and 1 abstention, establishes new criteria that make it difficult for the club to transform into a SAF. One of the main obstacles is the need for approval in the General Assembly, with a minimum quorum of 60% of voting members.

Currently, Flamengo has 6,124 members, which means that, for the SAF idea is approved, at least 3,675 members would need to vote in favor of the proposal. This number is significant and increases the level of complexity of the process, since mobilizing such a large number of partners and still ensuring that the absolute majority of them are in favor of the change is a considerable challenge.

FLAMENGO HAS A DIFFICULT TASK THIS SEASON

The Sociedade Anônima do Futebol (SAF) is a business management model that allows the entry of external capital and investors to manage the club, in addition to offering a format more market-oriented law. In Brazil, several clubs have adhered to this model, such as Botafogo, Cruzeiro and Vasco, with the aim of attracting investment and improving the financial health of institutions.

No Flamengo, which already has consolidated and financially healthy management compared to many other clubs in the country, the implementation of the SAF divides opinions. While some see the model as an opportunity to accelerate growth and ensure an even more solid foundation for the future, others believe that the club, due to its current good financial situation, does not need to resort to this strategy.
