Flamengo ended the NBB qualifying phase with a 97-91 defeat to Franca on Tuesday night (15) at the Pedrocão gym. The result, in turn, did not bring any losses to Mais Querido. With 26 wins and only 8 losses throughout the 34 rounds of the regular season , Flamengo secured second place in the table. Position confirmed in the previous round, against Bauru.
With that, the team led by Sérgio Hernández will have the advantage of home court advantage in the playoffs until a possible final, except in a possible clash with Minas , leader of the competition.
Now, all eyes turn to the Final Four of the Champions League Americas . The reunion with Franca has already been scheduled: Friday (18), at 9:10 pm, at Maracanãzinho. The match is worth a spot in the big continental final, on Saturday.
1st Bedroom
The game started at a fast pace, with both teams playing well on three-pointers . Franca started better, with good use of the perimeter, but Flamengo responded in kind. Kayo Gonçalves and Jordan Williams showed up well on long shots, while Ruan dominated the paint, fighting for rebounds and scoring from the free throw line. The quarter remained balanced, level at the top, with the score close . In the final stretch, Gui Deodato hit a three-pointer that gave Mais Querido their first comfortable lead. At the end of the first period, Flamengo managed to impose itself and closed ahead: 27 to 23.
2nd Bedroom
Flamengo maintained the pace in the second quarter and extended their lead early on with two more points from Gui Deodato, who continued to be the main offensive highlight . Exploiting the absence of center Wesley, Rubro-Negro relied on infiltration and forced fouls from Franca's defense, securing important points at the free throw line. Even with the match being even, Franca managed to tie the score before halftime, but Gui once again appeared with a decisive three-pointer, retaking the lead for Mengão and reaching 13 individual points. With the opponent exceeding the foul limit with more than five minutes to play, Flamengo knew how to take advantage of every trip to the free throw line. At the end of the period, Ruan Miranda still got the fans excited with a dunk after a great assist from Alexey. The game went into halftime with Rubro-Negro ahead: 56 to 55.
3rd Room
The third period was a difficult one for Flamengo . Early on, Taya Gallizzi committed her fourth foul and had to leave the court, compromising the team's physical presence in the paint. Without their center, Rubro-Negro had more defensive difficulties and saw Franca grow in the match. The opposing team took the lead on the scoreboard and managed to open up an advantage throughout the period. At the end of the third quarter, Flamengo went into the last 10 minutes at a disadvantage: 81 to 71.
4th Room
In the last period, Flamengo tried to react and sought the result until the final minutes. In a quarter with less offensive activity — with only 36 points added — Rubro-Negro won the set by 20 to 16, but it was not enough to reverse the disadvantage built up previously. In the end, Franca won by 97 to 91. Flamengo ends the NBB qualifying phase in second place and now fully focuses on the BCLA Final Four.
The Pride of the Nation returns to the court next Friday (18) to face Franca again, at 9:10 pm, at Maracanãzinho, for the BCLA Final Four
