Flamengo and Sesi Franca compete for this season's Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) title. After leveling the best-of-five series at 1-1, the final two matches were confirmed. This Friday (07), in fact, Rubro-Negro managed to confirm the change of time for game 4 of the final, at Maracanãzinho. The match moves from 6:30 pm to 6 pm (Brasília time) on Thursday (13), due to the Brasileirão round.


In the eighth round of the Brazilian men's football championship, Flamengo and Grêmio face each other at Maracanã at 8pm (Brasília time) on the same Thursday (13). Therefore, the game for Tite's team would start just 1h30 after the decision in the NBB. However, after the change, the start of the two clashes will now be 2 hours apart.


Flamengo requested a change in schedules precisely to facilitate the public's presence at both events. Therefore, as Maracanãzinho is next to Maracanã, red and black fans will have time to leave the NBB final and go straight to the Brasileirão game.


Under the command of Gustavo de Conti, Fla lost The first match of the best-of-five series for Sesi Franca. In the middle of Maracanãzinho, the São Paulo team scored 69 to 56. Flamengo announces the signing of experienced American power forward Markeith Cummings, 36, for the 2025/26 FlaBasquete season. After a stint in the Japanese B.League, the player arrives with a strong international resume and extensive experience.




WHO IS IT?


Born in Alabama (USA) and a former Kennesaw State player, Cummings has played in several countries and leagues, including the United States, France, Japan and Angola, where he was champion of the Basketball Africa League in 2024 with Petro de Luanda.

Last season, he played for the Japanese team Shiga Lakestars , where he averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game in 51 matches, being one of the top players in the league.


Recognized for his offensive versatility, creative ability and efficiency — with a 54.1% field goal percentage last season — Cummings arrives at Orgulho da Nação to reinforce the red-black team with his technical arsenal and international experience.

The power forward commented on his arrival at Flamengo and what he expects from the new season. "My expectations are to arrive, be the professional I've always been, and do everything the team needs from me. I want to help maintain the club's tradition of achievements. I'm very excited; I've heard nothing but good things about the organization, and it's a pleasure to be a part of it," Cummings said.

Markeith Cummings joins Alexey Borges, Franco Baralle, Daniel Onwenu, Shaq Johnson, Gui Deodato, Jhonatan Luz, Kayo Gonçalves, Ruan Miranda and Wesley Castro as the names confirmed for the next season of red-black basketball.

Flamengo's basketball team has begun a roster overhaul with the goal of making a strong showing in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup, the club's Club World Cup. Flamengo confirmed three signings and renewed contracts with six players , in addition to the retention of Argentine coach Sérgio Hernández, who will remain in charge until the end of the 2025/26 season.


This Tuesday (08), Rubro-Negro officially signed Argentine point guard Franco Baralle, 26 years old. The player arrives to reinforce the playmaking sector alongside Alexey Borges. In addition to him, the club also signed American winger Daniel Onwenu, who played for Corinthians last season, and pivot Wesley Castro, formerly of Franca.


FLAMENGO MAINTAINS THE BASE OF LAST SEASON


The club's board also opted to retain the core of the Super 8 Cup champions. Renewals were confirmed with experienced players Jhonatan Luz, Shaquille Johnson, and Gui Deodato. In addition, young talents trained in the youth academy, Ruan Miranda and Kayo Gonçalves, will remain on the professional roster. Last year's Super 8 MVP, Alexey Borges, also remains with the team.

Goodbyes Mark a New Phase


With the new planning underway, Orgulho da Nação has opted not to renew the contracts of some players . Argentine point guard Franco Balbi, power forward Lucas Siewert, and forward Luan Rodrigues are out of the plans for the 2025/26 season. Balbi's departure, in fact, caused dissatisfaction among fans on social media.

Flamengo continues to restructure its basketball squad and on Tuesday (8) announced the signing of 36-year-old winger Markeith Cummings. The North American athlete will be Mais Querido's fourth reinforcement in the 2025/26 season.


MARKETING NUMBERS


According to information from the "Repórter NBB" profile, Markeith Cummings arrives at Flamengo to reinforce the Mais Querido this season. The 1.98m power forward was playing for Shiga Lakes, a club in Japan. Thus, he had impressive averages of 15.3 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.


Markeith has an extensive international career. Last season, the forward won the Basketball Africa League (BAL) title playing for Petro de Luanda in Angola. He has also played for the NBA G-League, the Philippines, South Korea, Greece, France, Hungary, Mexico and Egypt.

MARKETING CAREER


The forward graduated from Kennesaw State in the United States. He became the highest scorer in the history of the university , surpassing 2,000 points. Cummings debuted as a professional in 2013 and has played for clubs such as Westchester Knicks (NBA G-League), GlobalPort Batang Pier (Philippines), Seoul Samsung Thunders (Korea), Nagoya Diamond Dolphins and Levanga Hokkaido (Japan), Élan Béarnais (France) and Abejas de León (Mexico).
