The game

Owner of the house, Franca started by opening the score, but it didn't take long for Flamengo to turn the match around (4-5), with 7 remaining. :40 for the end of the quarter. In a few minutes, the red-black advantage reached 12 points (5-17), with baskets from Jaú, Balbi, Scott Machado, a vibrant dunk from Devon Scott and two balls in a row from Loku Cuello - a triple. By the end of the first period, Franca fell to seven points behind and the score ended at 16-23.

In the second quarter, the match started balanced, with the opponent trying to recover from the loss, but the Flamengo remained engaged in the match, without making the home team feel very comfortable. In a good play worked between Balbi and Devon Scott, the Argentine finished with a ball from the perimeter that left Rubro-Negro 10 points ahead (23-33) and made coach Helinho ask for a timeout. With just over three minutes left before the break, Deodato also left a triple that took Mengão to their biggest advantage so far in the duel: 13 points (25-38). The “record” would be broken soon after, with baskets from Devon Scott - who was playing a game - and left Mengão 15 points ahead (28-43). The teams went to the locker room with 37 to 45 on the scoreboard.

The third quarter began with a reaction from the French team, which got close to the scoreboard and scored more than Flamengo in the period. Cuello, Jaú and Deodato scored for Mais Querido, but the Gávea team was making some mistakes. When the difference was just three points, a triple ball from number 1 let Rubro-Negro breathe. The period had Franca ahead, but on the overall score Mengão continued to win, by six points.

The game, which was becoming truncated, cleared up again. After a few minutes of tension in the third quarter, the last period was time for the balls from the perimeter to fall into the hands of Cuello, Scott Machado and Gui Deodato, who gave Mengo a calmer advantage. The team did not leave the lead on the scoreboard until the final burst of the clock. This past Tuesday (17), Felipe Motta announced his departure from Flamengo through his social networks, after one season. Now, the athlete will defend Rubro-Negro's rival, Botafogo in NBB 2024/25.

Felipe was revealed as an athlete with great potential. The young man played for the Brazilian National Team's youth teams, went through the NBA Global Academy, the North American league's development program, and played for Fortaleza before arriving at Rubro-Negro last season. He was champion of the Super 8 Cup and was part of the runner-up in the NBB.

However, Felipe only had a few minutes on the court per game and very discreet numbers. The winger played 5 minutes on average per game and had the following statistics: 1.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The young man had more opportunities in LNb 2024 and did well in the fourth place campaign, but both parties reached an agreement and ended the relationship.

FELIPE MOTTA SAYS GOODBYE TO FLAMENGO

On his social networks, Felipe Motta thanked Mais Querido and sent a message to the Nation: “Thank you Flamengo. It was an honor to be part of and play for the red and black nation.”

It is expected that Felipe will have more minutes at Botafogo and can establish himself among the elite of Brazilian basketball. The new NBB 2024/25 season will start in the second week of October, and Mais Querido will face Vasco in the first round.
