After a brief break to compete in the Pan-American Games, Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) returned with everything to continue the season. Playing at Maracanãzinho, Flamengo won the classic against Botafogo 92 to 69, on Tuesday night (7). The highlight of the match was Gabriel Jaú, with 21 points converted.

The first red-and-black points in the classic came from the hands of Gabriel Jaú, who received assistance from Balbi. Then, Jaú himself made that dunk and scored two more points. The start of the game was quite balanced, as Botafogo didn't let Flamengo open.

1st Quarter: With four minutes remaining in the quarter, Gui Deodato appeared free to score two more. With the defense in place, Pride of the Nation made opposing attacks difficult, forcing the black and white team to shoot from outside the perimeter. Matheus Leoni entered the court and made an excellent pass for Loku Cuello to score two more. Afterwards, Gabriel Jaú hit Mengão's first three-ball of the match, which closed the period with a nine-point lead: 18 to 9.

2nd Quarter: On the court, the “Deus da Raça” Olivinha received assistance from Gui Deodato, scored two points and suffered a foul. He even converted the bonus free throw. Gui Deodato swung up to the mark and hit a beautiful triple ball to maintain the red-black advantage. Maique, in the race, received the ball for two points and another free throw, converting the free throw.

Meanwhile, Botafogo tried offensive plays, but stopped at the good block made by the red and black defense. Even so, he managed to convert some points. In the final minutes, the black and white team increased their intensity and closed the gap. But the Pride of the Nation responded immediately with Cuello, who hit a three-ball. With that, FlaBasquete went into the break dominating the action and winning by 40 to 33.

3rd Quarter: After the break, Olivinha scored three more points in Mengão's account. Soon after, Cuello repeated his teammate and converted a triple ball. Gui Deodato maintained the good momentum of the red and black team to go down at speed and score two more points. Jaú also took advantage of the opportunity and further increased Fla's advantage.

Filipovity scored his first three points of the match with just over a minute remaining in the period. Olivinha, the God of Race, made the layup and suffered the foul. In the final seconds, Gui Deodato hit from the dead zone. The partial was 68 to 45 in favor of Mais Querido.

4th Quarter: In the last period, Botafogo came back better and managed to close the gap a little. But Mengão didn't let the pace drop and scored again. Maique received it in the bottle and, on a platter, scored two more points. Then, Balbi worked well on the play, shot from the perimeter and the ball fell. With three minutes remaining, Filipovity converted four points on two two-pointers. With a good lead on the scoreboard, FlaBasquete prevailed on the court and closed the game 92 to 69.

This past Tuesday (17), Felipe Motta announced his departure from Flamengo through his social networks, after one season. Now, the athlete will defend Rubro-Negro's rival, Botafogo in NBB 2024/25.

Felipe was revealed as an athlete with great potential. The young man played for the Brazilian National Team's youth teams, went through the NBA Global Academy, the North American league's development program, and played for Fortaleza before arriving at Rubro-Negro last season. He was champion of the Super 8 Cup and was part of the runner-up in the NBB.

However, Felipe only had a few minutes on the court per game and very discreet numbers. The winger played 5 minutes on average per game and had the following statistics: 1.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The young man had more opportunities in LNb 2024 and did well in the fourth place campaign, but both parties reached an agreement and ended the relationship.

FELIPE MOTTA SAYS GOODBYE TO FLAMENGO

On his social networks, Felipe Motta thanked Mais Querido and sent a message to the Nation: “Thank you Flamengo. It was an honor to be part of and play for the red and black nation.”

It is expected that Felipe will have more minutes at Botafogo and can establish himself among the elite of Brazilian basketball. The new NBB 2024/25 season will start in the second week of October, and Mais Querido will face Vasco in the first round.

For everything he experienced on the court, Olivinha is one of Flamengo's greatest idols. In FlaBasquete, he appears as the big figure, even represented by an organized fan flag. The God of Race is the only player in the club's history to win both World Cups won by the team in the sport. His importance is so valued that he will become the only athlete outside football to receive an important honor.

Like great names in football, Olivinha will receive a bust in his honor, and it will be displayed at the Flamengo Museum , in Gávea, according to the newspaper O Globo. It is the first time that a basketball player has received this type of honor at the club, which is very common with football players.

At the main entrance to Gávea, there are busts of Raul, Leandro, Marinho, Moer, Júnior, Andrade, Nunes, Adílio and Lico. Furthermore, Zico has some statues, such as one at the entrance to the Ninho do Urubu football complex. The tributes are all to the stars of the 80s who marked their time at Rubro-Negro. Now, Olivinha enters that same shelf upon receiving the bust, perpetuating herself as an eternal FlaBasquete idol.

The object has already been ordered and should be close to the idols of 1981. The tribute is prepared by the sculptor Eduardo Santos, which is already producing the item at the request of Flamengo.

Olivinha retired at the end of last season for FlaBasquete

The FlaBasquete idol retired at the end of last season. Olivinha announced that she would stop playing after the end of the NBB, which mobilized the team to try to reach the decision and win the cup, honoring the star's legacy.

However, despite reaching the final, the The team was unable to overcome Franca, finishing runner-up and Olivinha had to say a painful but emotional goodbye.

After retirement, Olivinha was given a program on Fla TV. The ‘Lance Livre’ mentions basketball, but it is not just about that topic, but rather a review of the former player with a red-and-black guest. In the premiere, for example, the character chosen was the singer Naldo Benny.
