With a lot of effort from the team in all periods, Flamengo beat Brasília this Saturday (07), at Maracanãzinho, in a match valid for the ninth round from NBB: 90 to 84. Gui Deodato was the red-black scorer, with 17 points. Alexey recorded a double-double of 12 points with 11 assists. The next game will be in the Champions League, against Boca Juniors, next Sunday (15) at Tijuca Tênis Clube.

 Highlights:

Gui Deodato - 17 points;

Shaq Johnson - 14 points;

Taya Gallizzi - 13 points;

Alexey Borges - 12 points and 11 assists;

1st Room

Brasília got 12 points from four shots at the start of the game. Ruan and Gui Deodato responded with baskets that prevented the visiting team from getting ahead on the scoreboard. Lucas Siewert made a beautiful stump. Ruan was another red-and-black player who prevented Brasília from advancing on the scoreboard with a tackle. With 40 seconds left in the first quarter, Shaq, Jordan and Balbi entered. Shaq made a play for a two-pointer, the defense rebounded and the American regained possession and saved a beautiful three-pointer, putting Flamengo in front for the first time in the match. Gallizzi and Jordan Williams entered the game with key double baskets. For the opposing team, the three-pointers continued to fall, Nesbitt and Lucas hit their shots, leaving the team from the federal capital ahead at the end of the first period: 23 to 26 in favor of the visitors. “Two teams that play forward, so the game is open.” - commented Paulo Chupeta, in a FlaTV broadcast.

2nd Room

 The first basket of the second quarter was from Ruan, with another beautiful assist from Balbi. Flamengo's attitude, more offensive at this stage, showed the athletes' desire. Siewert, with three points, put Flamengo ahead, but Cook responded with a triple goal and put Brasília one point ahead: 28 to 29. Gui Deodato, with three points and Ruan with two in sequence, kept Flamengo on their heels on the scoreboard, as Lucas and Rodrigues were successful in their shots, increasing the opponent's score. Alexey made two plays and got four more points for Mengão. Brasília's attempts began to fail and Flamengo established itself at the top of the scoreboard, which had been alternating until then. With 41 to 38 on the scoreboard, Flamengo had Gui, Siewert, Luz, Alexey and Balbi on the court. The formation with two point guards reduced the average height on the court to some degree, but the pressing pressure carried out by the point guards was effective in complicating the opponent's shots, which remained below what was desired. Cook managed three free throws but only converted 1. In three alternations of possession, the score did not change and when the end of the second quarter sounded, the teams went to the locker room with the score at 41 to 39 for Flamengo.

3rd Room

Kayo scored the first three points of the third quarter. Gallizzi converted four more. Gui Deodato saved three more and Jordan Williams scored a beautiful dunk, causing the opposing coach to call a timeout. With a ten point lead, Flamengo led the score 53 to 43. Nesbitt hit a three again, promptly responded by two more points from Alexey. Gallizzi took advantage of a rebound to save two more and Jordan Williams saved a three-point basket, which increased the Rubro-Negro's advantage even after the double basket and Cook's free throws. In the remaining two minutes of the third stage, Balbi tried to increase Flamengo's lead, but the ball refused to fall. Bonfim buried and added two more points for Brasília, making the difference drop to nine points. In the last attack of this stage, Jordan Williams once again left the difference at eleven.

4th Room

The fourth quarter began with the score showing 67 to 56 for the home team. Gui assisted Gallizzi, who scored two more for Flamengo. Cook closed the gap to ten. Bonfim suffered a foul in the penalty area and scored two points on free throws. Shaq defended, Alexey served and Gui Deodato responded to the opponent's points with another two-point basket. Brasília scored again with Von Haydin, but missed a point shot. Bonfim scored another two points and it was coach Gustavo de Conti's turn to call for a technical timeout. With 71 to 65 on the scoreboard, Flamengo's advantage remained, but without the dominance it had before. In the free throw, Bonfim made a mistake and the Nation sang louder at Maracanãzinho.

Alexey scored two more points and Cook missed the shot in the sequence. Gui Deodato took advantage of the exchange of passes and saved three more points for the Gávea team. Coach Dedé Barbosa stopped the game to look for ways to eliminate the eight-point difference on the scoreboard. Alexey showed his technique with a two-pointer, the pass to Kayo's basket, which followed, proved the growing rapport. The visitors had less and less time to reverse the deficit in the count, but Shaq cooled the opponent's spirits and put the advantage at 17 points: 82 to 65. Nesbitt scored with free throws.

Cook too. Von Haydin hit three points and Gustavo de Conti stopped the game in a technical timeout. at that time, the score showed 82 to 74. With one minute left, Shaq Johnson scored a beautiful three-pointer, Brasília responded with two points from Cook.

Gallizzi converted another point for Flamengo and left the lead at ten. Lucas scored two points and it was Shaq Johnson's turn to go to the free throw line, making both. There were 32 seconds left and Lucas closed the gap to seven points. Balbi converted two free throws and left Brasília with 19 seconds to change the score.
