After draw in footballand defeat in volleyball< /b>, Flamengo basketball also failed to achieve a positive result this Thursday (16). In the return of Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), Rubro-Negro was beaten by Corinthians by 95 to 87, in São Paulo.
The Flamengo returned to the courts for the NBB after almost a month, since the victory against Mogi, in Rio de Janeiro, in December 2024. In the first quarter, the team rubro-negra came behind, losing 32 to 28. The balance marked the second period, but Corinthians maintained the advantage, closing at 24 to 23.
After the break, Flamengo reacted and dominated the third quarter, winning by 22 to 15 and taking the lead in the overall score by 73 to 71. However, in the last period, the São Paulo team regained control of the game, with a strong performance that guaranteed the victory by 24 to 14 in the decisive quarter.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
Among the highlights of Flamengo, Johnson Sr. and Williams shared the basket position, with 14 points each. Ruan led the assists, with eight decisive passes, while Alexey was the team's main rebounder, with 12 rebounds.
CLASSIFICATION AND SITUATION IN THE NBB
With the defeat, Flamengo lost the chance to take the lead. The team led by Gustavo De Conti remains with 35 points, while Minas leads the championship with 36 points. Rubro-Negro has a 75% success rate in the competition.

Flamengo returns to the courts next Saturday (18), to face Pinheiros, in Ginásio Poliesportivo H. Villaboim, at 5pm (Brasília time), in a game valid for the 15th round of the NBB.

FlaBasquete kicked off its FIBA World Cup campaign with a daunting challenge. Champions League Americas champions faced NBA G-League United in pursuit of their third world title, but failed to secure a winning start .
The Americans opened up a 20-point lead, putting Flamengo in a difficult position. The comeback, however, came in the final quarter: Alexey and Kayo Gonçalves led a spectacular comeback , putting Flamengo ahead in the final minutes.

Despite their efforts, NBA G-League United regained the lead in the final seconds and won 93-91 . Mengão even tied the game before their opponents' final shot, but were unable to force overtime.

We were slow to respond and only changed our approach when the lead was already significant . That was a big loss. But it was still a great game, decided by the details. We knew it would be tough. Flamengo debuted with a 93-91 defeat at the Basketball World Cup against NBA G-League United on Thursday morning (18) in a game of strong emotions. Current two-time champion of the competition, with titles in 2014 and 2022, Sérgio "Oveja" Hernández's team dreams of a third title. And, despite the defeat, they showed the power to react.

Flamengo faces NBA G League United (USA) at 6 a.m. (Brasília time) , with exclusive coverage on FlamengoTV throughout Brazil. On September 19, also at 6 a.m., the opponent will be the Illawarra Hawks of Australia. The decisive matches will take place over the weekend.
