Martín Cuello's departure represents a loss for Flamengo's squad
|
The Argentine winger Martín Cuello will not continue at Flamengo. The player announced that his intention is to return to the Argentine National League or compete in the Uruguayan League, where he already played for Club Malvin in 2021.
Cuello, who is known by his nickname "Loku", arrived at Flamengo had high expectations, but his time at the Brazilian club was relatively short. With the red and black shirt, Cuello had good moments, but was unable to establish himself as one of the team's main players. The decision not to continue at Flamengo seems to be more related to his personal plans and the search for new opportunities in his career.
FLAMENGO IS RESCUED
Martín Cuello arrived at Flamengo as a promising reinforcement . The player, 1.92m tall, is known for his versatility on the court and ability to play both wing and point guard positions. His experience in South American leagues, including his time at Club Malvin in Uruguay, led to the expectation that he could add value to the Flamengo squad.
During his stay at Flamengo, Cuello participated in several competitions, including the NBB (New Basketball Brazil). However, he failed to stand out consistently and ended up not having the impact expected by the board and fans. Despite this, Cuello demonstrated professionalism and dedication, characteristics that are valued in the sporting world.
According to information from Guilherme Tadeu, from Café Belgrado, Mais Querido may hire Alexey, from Capitanes

Despite two titles won in the last basketball season, namely the Campeonato Carioca and the Copa Super 8, Flamengo ended the year, being runner-up in the NBB, losing the final to Sesi Franca, in addition to being defeated in the final of the Champions League of the Americas, to Quimsa, from Argentina, because of this, it is likely that the board will make moves to sign more players for next season.
Flamengo is close to sign a new point guard for the 2024-25 season
The club has only two players with a contract for next season, guaranteed, they are Franco Balbi and Gui Deodato, who will remain in the Flamengo for next season, coach Gustavo de Conti, is also maintained in his position. However, last Monday (15), center forward Gabriel Jaú announced his departure from Flamengo, to play for Kolossos, in Greece.
Now, Flamengo isn't just about leaving, either. This is because, according to information from Guilherme Tadeu, from Café Belgrado, Rubro-Negro is the favorite to sign point guard Alexey Borges, who recently played for Sesi Franca and played for Capitanes, the only Mexican team that competes in the G-League, a minor league in the United States.
Franca even had talks to repatriate the player, it is worth mentioning that recently, the São Paulo team confirmed the return of Georginho, who was champion of everything with the team in 2023. Negotiations between Alexey Borges and Flamengo are at a very advanced stage, however, the athlete is awaiting definitions from European clubs, to find out if he is open to a return to Brazilian basketball.
Also according to information from Guilherme Tadeu, the agreement between the parties could happen in the next few days. Alexey Borges is in the squad for the Paris Olympics.
