This past Tuesday (17), Felipe Motta announced his departure from Flamengo through his social networks, after one season. Now, the athlete will defend Rubro-Negro's rival, Botafogo in NBB 2024/25.

Felipe was revealed as an athlete with great potential. The young man played for the Brazilian National Team's youth teams, went through the NBA Global Academy, the North American league's development program, and played for Fortaleza before arriving at Rubro-Negro last season. He was champion of the Super 8 Cup and was part of the runner-up in the NBB.

However, Felipe only had a few minutes on the court per game and very discreet numbers. The winger played 5 minutes on average per game and had the following statistics: 1.3 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists. The young man had more opportunities in LNb 2024 and did well in the fourth place campaign, but both parties reached an agreement and ended the relationship.

FELIPE MOTTA SAYS GOODBYE TO FLAMENGO

On his social networks, Felipe Motta thanked Mais Querido and sent a message to the Nation: “Thank you Flamengo. It was an honor to be part of and play for the red and black nation.”

It is expected that Felipe will have more minutes at Botafogo and can establish himself among the elite of Brazilian basketball. The new NBB 2024/25 season will start in the second week of October, and Mais Querido will face Vasco in the first round.

For everything he experienced on the court, Olivinha is one of Flamengo's greatest idols. In FlaBasquete, he appears as the big figure, even represented by an organized fan flag. The God of Race is the only player in the club's history to win both World Cups won by the team in the sport. His importance is so valued that he will become the only athlete outside football to receive an important honor.

Like great names in football, Olivinha will receive a bust in his honor, and it will be displayed at the Flamengo Museum , in Gávea, according to the newspaper O Globo. It is the first time that a basketball player has received this type of honor at the club, which is very common with football players.

At the main entrance to Gávea, there are busts of Raul, Leandro, Marinho, Moer, Júnior, Andrade, Nunes, Adílio and Lico. Furthermore, Zico has some statues, such as one at the entrance to the Ninho do Urubu football complex. The tributes are all to the stars of the 80s who marked their time at Rubro-Negro. Now, Olivinha enters that same shelf upon receiving the bust, perpetuating herself as an eternal FlaBasquete idol.

The object has already been ordered and should be close to the idols of 1981. The tribute is prepared by the sculptor Eduardo Santos, which is already producing the item at the request of Flamengo.

Olivinha retired at the end of last season for FlaBasquete

The FlaBasquete idol retired at the end of last season. Olivinha announced that she would stop playing after the end of the NBB, which mobilized the team to try to reach the decision and win the cup, honoring the star's legacy.

However, despite reaching the final, the The team was unable to overcome Franca, finishing runner-up and Olivinha had to say a painful but emotional goodbye.

After retirement, Olivinha was given a program on Fla TV. The ‘Lance Livre’ mentions basketball, but it is not just about that topic, but rather a review of the former player with a red-and-black guest. In the premiere, for example, the character chosen was the singer Naldo Benny.

Flamengo faced an arduous journey in the final of the Champions League of the Americas Basketball, culminating in a defeat to Quimsa by 92 to 80. The clash, held this Sunday (14) at the Ciudad Stadium, in Santiago del Estero, Argentina , saw the Argentine team claim victory and leave Flamengo with the bitter taste of runner-up.

From the first minutes, the Brazilian team found it difficult to impose their game against a determined and aggressive Quimsa. The first quarter was a harbinger of things to come, with the Argentines opening up a significant lead of 16 points, finishing 28 to 12.

HOW THE GAME WAS LIKE

The second quarter saw Quimsa's persistence, with Flamengo struggling to contain the opponent's momentum. The difference in the score widened even further, reaching 20 points at times. Quimsa's dominance was not only reflected in the score, but also in the efficiency of the shots. While the Cariocas struggled to convert three-point balls, Quimsa demonstrated precision, with a 67% success rate compared to Flamengo's 22%.

Faced with this challenging scenario, Flamengo's coach and players they faced a tactical crossroads. The strategy of insisting on three-pointers, despite its low effectiveness, proved to be a questionable but understandable choice in the desperate search for a turnaround in the score.

The second half of the game witnessed an emotional battle for the Flamengo, as they tried to recover from the disadvantage. Despite flashes of individual skill and moments of resilience, the consistency needed to turn things around slipped away from them.
